If other animals kill and eat other animals then I think its ok.

I don't live the idea of slaughter houses and mass killing of animals. It makes me sad but that's about it. I hate vegtables anyway I would starve and die

I'm looking for the motivation to change my diet but the only thing that Trump motivates me to do is be angry and puke so

Also a bunch of other inspirational mushy stuff to stand in opposition of his backwards policies but that's a conversation for a different time when I'm not happily stuffing my face :green:

I love your comment, it made me sad at first but the spoiler was very honest which I respect. I can't watch the full video posted because my internet is pretending like it's the 90's or something, but I wouldn't go vegan to oppose trump, I would go vegan for environmental reasons, for animal welfare, or for health reasons.

I'm not sure if you are open to it, but you don't have to go vegan overnight, I think trying one meal randomly to have vegan can make a difference and be a fun experiment. This is my go-to recommendation in recipes because it tastes like real nacho cheese, choosing to make this over buying or making real nacho cheese can help the cause. Nutritional yeast can be found at your local health food store, its a way to make cheese flavoured dishes and has umami. It also contains B12, if you can't find it in your area try online sites like Amazon. Arrowroot flour/starch can be substituted with corn starch in the same amount, the recipe turns out the same.

Try to make alternative living a fun experiment, rather than a lifestyle overhaul, it can help it be more stress-free and make you feel more open to change. Good luck!

You should read up on the equal consideration of interests principle if you are truly interested.

The core of this concept is that if a being has the ability to suffer or feel pleasure it has interests, and such interests must be considered. Our current interactions with animals include farming practices, zoos and enclosures and experimentation that often does not take such issues into consideration, creating ethical problems in our treatment of animals.

There just doesn't seem to be any logical reason why the interests of animals can be discarded. There doesn't seem to be any reason for why it's okay to inflict unnecessary harm and suffering onto animals, 'meat tastes good' doesn't seem like an acceptable reason to torture an animal and kill it. For all I know meat from human infants taste good but we would all agree that inflicting harm on an infant and killing it for it's meat would be horrendous.

Other animals don't have the ability to reason. We don't judge our normal ethical standards via the behaviour of animals, so why should it be different when it comes to our diet? Sea otters have been known to rape baby seals to death, it's surprisingly common - look it up. But nobody here would think "Well, if other animals rape infant animals to death then I think it's ok".

Also, other animals often have to eat meat to survive. We can live perfectly healthy lives on a vegetarian/vegan diet. There are many delicious vegetarian/vegan meals out there, i'm sure you could find something you find interesting.

Other animals kill and eat each other because they are instinctual animals and most likely obligate carnivores. Comparing us to them is like apples and oranges. You would do better with using gorillas, they actually do eat a lot of insects, but the majority of their diet is fruits, and they are incredibly strong animals. They are also quite similar to us.

As for hating vegetables, try to hide them in recipes. I'm not a big fan of leafy greens most of the time, but they are hugely beneficial so I make sure to add them to smoothies, lasagna, vegan meatballs, muffins, and pancakes. Vegan baking is pretty unnoticeable when compare to regular baking, they have the same textures and tastes. Also try to think about what exactly it is that makes you dislike vegetables, veggies come in all shapes and textures, and whether sauteing, boiling, baking, or roasting, they all turn out incredibly different. I love roasted veggies, just a little salt and oil and cooked on a high heat and they melt in your mouth.

You certainly don't need to go vegan yet if it doesn't suit you, just try to be open-minded about your food choices. Making the decision to eat a vegan dish over eating a plate that has animal products every once in a while can make a difference.

I'm open to messages, questions or advice requests as well. I don't believe in trying to force your views upon others, but sharing knowledge is the best way to promote change.

What got me thinking about why I should consider veganism was how outraged and disturbed I would feel by the Yulan festival in China. I realized it was hypocritical for me to pick and choose which species I cared about.

If the idea of people murdering dogs or cats for food disturbs you, then you should question why you feel any differently about pigs, cows, etc. The "steak" on your plate had emotions, feelings, a personality just like your dog that you're going to cuddle later.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

I always try to limit my animal products but right now I'm not going vegan.

This girl though... I'm sure you can twist anything to make it look like Trump supports it. I bet her video camera manufacturer supports white supremacy if you stretch the truth enough.

It is difficult when u love meat :air:

But I agree we should all be vegetarian. Morally its so wrong we kill scientient life when theres plenty of nutritional plant life and alternatives available

So bad. I keep saying im gonna stop eating meat but always fail after 1 week of trying

I love your comment, it shows an incredible amount of good character to be able to admit something is righteous or beneficial even though it is not something you are currently able to achieve or bring into your life yet. Thank you for being so open-minded, its such an incredible trait to see all sides as you do.

I always support movements like Meatless Mondays because I think its effective and easy to implement into most people's lives, to be able to go almost a week without meat like you can is very impressive and makes a big impact! Don't feel bad, I think what you are already doing is very helpful to the cause, having awareness is the biggest step and you already have that down easily, I admire you. Try to make having vegan dishes a fun experiment, rather than an obligation, it can change things drastically.

Here are recipes I use very often:

Here is the Accidentally Vegan Food List by Peta, you may be surprised at what you find is vegan:

Nah man, I tried Vegan diet, all the foods, all the supplement pills, not for me. I'll keep the tempeh, and the coconut milk based ice cream, but choose to stay as omnivore and keep it balanced. Thanks tho. :ladyhaha:

What supplements were on your list? Just so you know, most of the population is fiber deficient, Vitamin D deficient, and B12 deficient which is the biggest vitamin you can't get naturally on a vegan diet. The problem is, 40% of the population is deficient in B12 yet still eats far too much meat and dairy for their health (diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis are some of the largest killers in the states), and vegans are only 1% of the population. The animals we factory farm are so unhealthy we have to inject them with B12, and formulate products with B12 later. Somehow 40% is still deficient, even thought they eat TOO MUCH animal products, enough for an overload of protein which can cause illnesses. Acting like vegan diets are in desperate need of supplementation when most of the population is unhealthy on meat eating diets is crazy, especially with 1/3 of the population being obese.

You can keep your diet balanced very easily on a vegan diet, maybe try to choose a few days of the week to go vegan if it is too overwhelming, small changes have impact.

I absolutely love that most GGD users would call themselves "environmentally concerned" yet I see so many "no" comments.

The statistics are in, Veganism is necessary for sustainability. Do not say you care about the environment if you are not willing to go this route.:queenga:
