Common question: Is Gaga over?

If I wasn't a fan of her, I suppose I might think slightly differently. But seriously, she's doing a lot better than a lot of other artists like her. Remember that she's in her 30's now, a difficult time for a female artist. Yet, apart from Beyonce, she's the only mainstream female artist aged 30 or over that is having a decent amount of success right now (Katy is in her 30's now but we'll have to wait until her next album before deciding if she fits in there too and Adele will probably be fine when she reaches that age, as will Taylor, but I'm talking about the here and now). When you put it like that, you realise she can't be completely over. Plus, she's doing the SB next year and we all saw how that re-ignited Beyonce's career. It gave her the amazing ability to sell albums really well again and not have successful singles, yet still have a successful tour and be considered a success, so here's hoping it does the same for Gaga.

But yeah, that element annoys me. The fact Beyonce can drop an entire album and people buy it in their millions without question but Gaga can release an album traditionally and not have people care the same, even though it's a lot better. Compared to her, Gaga looks like she's over because she can't do the same thing. Does the SB the source of the power? Here's hoping.

Nope. She will never ever be truly over. But she's going through an "indie" phase right now. She can easily have a huge comeback era if she wants to...well, if she wants to...I feel like she's gotten kind of lazy but I don't blame her.

I mean, she is only performing at the SuperBowl next year. But yeah, she's completely over. No one cares.

Completely? Sounds overdramatic to me

I didn't mean it in a literal sense, I am trying to say that it seems like she doesn't even care anymore about the chart success, popularity etc. Also after ARTPOP we all expected her to come back with redone bops but instead she gave us Joanne which I love, but it is even less commercial than ARTPOP . If she really cared about the chart success she'd take the easy route.

I wouldn't say that she completely doesn't care about charts. It's too much. She does care, it's just probably not her priority.

No, Gaga is far from over, she is just a different place in her career..but she'll keep making great music, and that it really all that counts...yes, a shame that she is not topping the charts everywhere... but song do not need to top the charts to be great ;-)

I think she will always be around, but on the other hand I do think her influence and popularity are fading, Most people on social media said her protest was a massive stunt and was embarrassing, I can see why some people would think that, it did look a bit staged to some degree. Also I think her attention span is very quick, and if her single's don't do very well she will invest her energy elsewhere, I noticed this with ARTPOP, even though she did split with her manager in that period of time. Her album has been out for just over a month? And no singles on the charts, no promo, no radio play, it's sort of dead in the water, I understand that she is busy with the election discussion but her current status won't last forever.

No. She is a current established artist. She is past being a trend or fad which is why she's sitting comfortably with her work and doesn't have to be obnoxiously over the top in the media and press. She can pick and choose now.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
