You were very open-minded last time we spoke on the "I hate Omnivores" thread in the beginning, it was really nice to speak with someone who was truly questioning the good and bad of the movement. I hope that you go back to that open-mindedness and realize you can eat a ton of delicious food as a vegan, or that you do not need to give up meat completely, just cut back on it. Every little effort counts. FATWIFE, First Lady Of GGD

Do you care about animal abuse or climate change? Try to read this study from the point of view of someone who is just trying to be aware of their consumerism, it may help you realize the gravity of your decisions. I applaud you for trying to talk some sense into some of the complete idiots in this thread, I don't feel like it rn because I'm doing HW, so I'm happy someone is. #Veganism2016

I have a feeling you are just acting tough out of defensiveness, you should read up on cognitive dissonance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance Most people do not like animal abuse, that is obvious with how the public reacts to things like Cecil the Lion being killed, but we are brainwashed to not think about how pigs, chickens, cows and fish are treated and how much they are suffering. The FBI treats animal abuse as a top-tier felony because it usually shows signs of psychopathy, but they ignore animal abuse in factory farms. If you don't care about abuse then there is nothing I can do to change you, but if you do and are just experiencing a defensive mood then I suggest watching a film like Earthings on your own time. Spoiler Please watch it, at least for educational purposes to know where your food comes from. Any small effort does make a difference, like being vegetarian or trying things like meatless Mondays. Please open your heart and mind, we for some reason treat dogs and cats as family, but will brutally abuse cows, fish, chickens and pigs. This is one of those pervasive myths that becomes common knowledge despite being false. I should clarify, eggs are a great source of fat and protein for people who have trouble getting enough calories in their diets. So, for starving populations. For non-starving populations, it becomes excessive and detrimental. Kind of like the idea that sugar causes diabetes. Verifiably false but I bet someone will quote me and tell me I'm an idiot and that sugar definitively causes diabetes.

Thomas P 18,479
I can't go vegan. I don't have the will power to give up meat. It's my favourite food. Burgers, steak, chicken, ribs, etc. I couldn't t possibly see myself ever stop eating. I know it's bad for me, but honestly I don't really care. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for animal rights, I just like meat, and I can't see myself not eating it. I REALLLLYYY respect people who are able to go vegan or vegetarian though, it's good for health, and for the planet. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill. I just love meat so I'm okay with caging animals, torturing them and killing them!" In all seriousness though, I'm vegetarian as of now trying to work myself up to vegan, and it can be a hard adjustment for some people to just jump from a diet full of meats to a diet that's completely free of meat. I totally understand that sentiment and how it's a large barrier for a lot of people. What helped me is each week introducing a new vegetarian/vegan meal into lunches and dinners. (My breakfast was already vegetarian/vegan friendly - depending on whether I had cereal and milk or toast - so I didn't need to worry about that ) Eventually I just found a ton of vegetarian and vegan meals that I found really delicious! It became less about "Oh no I'm going to miss out on this meat meal!" and more "Oooh yum! I love this veggie dish!" Once you have a bunch of vegetarian recipes and meals under your belt it becomes a lot easier.

Goosey 3,017
Well, clearly... this only considers the environmental impacts of a diet. However, the UN is trying to get more people to eat insects. Apparently they are a good source of nutrition and easy to raise with little money or environmental effect. I think insectivores would be just as sustainable as vegans. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-22508439 "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J.
