Your cholesterol levels also rises because there are inflammatory processes going on your body, caused by high amounts of carbohydrates in your diet. Wherever you heard that, you did not get the full story :poot:

Only if you eat like 100% healthy, like most 5-10 vegans do. Sometimes they do not even reach their daily necessary calories. And don't even get me started with comparing animal Omega 3 with the one that can be found on seeds. They are not the same, just like vegetable proteins are not the same as the proteins in meat.

Oh, so you are an animal fat phobic? :poot: How interesting, I won't even discuss that with you since you are obviously an anti-fat human being.

Hmmm, I can't argue with someone who is anti-science and anti-evidence.

Like trying to argue with a creationist.

The biggest issue people have when switching to a vegan diet is that they don't eat enough. You can fill up your plate to look the same amount as before when you had meat on it, but vegetables and other plants have much lower calorie density. You need to have second helpings, possibly more depending on what exactly you are eating and your stats. I would try an app like My Fitness Pal, you can put in your information, your goals and it will help you find out how many calories you should be eating and what all your macros should be. Make sure to log everything you eat, after a few weeks you will have a better understanding of your eating habits. I would also recommend seeing your doctor to make sure there is no other reason for you having issues gaining weight. Good luck! Feel free to PM me with any more questions!

Thank you for the advice !

I would love to go partly vegan but since I still live with my parents, it is not gonna happen anytime soon :toofunny: We eat meat every day, however when I cook, its always smth vegan :gaycat: Vegan lasagna, quiche, various pasta salads and pasta pesto are fucking delicious :saira: We do grow our own vegetables so that helps a bit I guess?

edit: wait, is that all vegan tho?

I've been a vegetarian for nearly a year now after a discussion I had on here. I would feel so hypocritical for standing up for animal abuse and being an activist whilst eating a burger so I decided to just stop.

It's not been bad at all, the biggest hurdle was convenience, it's easier to go KFC than make a vegetarian meal and the occasional empty stomach when there's nothing suitable on the menu but otherwise I feel great about it, even just cutting meat out for one day helps massively. Hoping to make the step to Vegan next year.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Vegan diets mean no meat, dairy or eggs. You can eat all those things you mentioned, just make vegan alternatives. There are many dry pastas in stores that are already vegan, just check the ingredients to make sure there is no milk or eggs, which there shouldn't be.

Here are some recipes I've tried and enjoyed for the dishes you've mentioned:

Lasagna: http://www.hotforfoodblog.com/recipes/2010/04/12/vegan-lasagna

Quiche: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/vegan-quiche

Pasta Salad: http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pasta-recipes/the-best-pasta-salad/

Pesto Pasta: http://minimalistbaker.com/pea-pesto-pasta-with-sun-dried-tomatoes-arugula-vegan-gf/

I completely understand your living situation, thank you for being open-minded and making an effort!

It's actually very simple haha, and I didn't even know my entire life I was buying dry pasta that didn't have any in it. You won't notice a difference in taste or texture, I promise.

Here's recipe from scratch: http://minimalistbaker.com/homemade-vegan-pasta/

I also make pizza dough from scratch, and I've found pre-made frozen doughs at my local stores very easily.

Pizza Dough: http://www.food.com/recipe/vegan-pizza-dough-10579

I'm throwing in the pierogie recipe I use, because it's amazing and the dough is simple: http://www.hotforfoodblog.com/recipes/2015/11/2/vegan-sweet-potato-sauerkraut-pierogies

I think too many people are seeing this as black or white, or an assault on anyone who is non-vegan. Although being vegan makes the biggest impact, you don't have to necessarily be full on vegan to make a difference. Raising livestock is one of the most detrimental things that humans are doing to the environment; that's a fact. So any reduction in consumption of animal products will make a positive impact.

Try cutting things out things one at a time while finding nutritionally rich substitutes for each item. Eventually you'll find a healthier diet that is better for you and the environment. I found it surprisingly easy when I slowly transitioned (for over about a year). I started with beef and pork, then moved onto milk, then other dairy, then poultry, etc. I still find that sometimes I have to make compromises when eating with family or out at restaurants, but I no longer purchase any animal products while getting groceries. I have soo much more energy, look healthier and feel better about what I am eating.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
