To take care of earth? Maybe, but it's not that easy for normal people. Supplements are expensive, the diet is not that balanced and also your cholesterol level rises because you are not eating enough with your diet. Veganism is even more extreme than vegetarianism, because it takes out all of the good sources of the 9 essential amino acids such as eggs, milk and cheese.

Evn though I always suggest a 70% vegetables and fruits based diet to everyone, because they are in fact, healthy. Milk is unnecesary because it is designed for cows, but fermented milk (yogurt, cheese, etc) are good sources for a healthy nutrition.

I can't take you seriously with that avi, Melanoma.

hi thank u for the post!  I've attempted eating a meat and dairy free diet- meat free lasted for about three week but today and forever I am diary free.  I wish I could not have to eat meat but I am underweight for my age and height (and personal preference) and am concerned I will continue to be underweight if I go meat free.  How can I reverse this?

Go to a nutritionist. Explain that you want to exclude certain food from your diet and they will gently help you out. For your own health don't follow internet advices.

Try being a vegan on $20 a month and tell me.

If you can't afford it now, you just can't. But that doesn't mean all you have to do is eat meat. You can find protein in many other food options.

I'm sorry, but this is way off. I am currently in school studying dietetics, and every major dietetic organization agrees that a vegan diet can be perfectly healthy if you choose it to be. There are people who eat fast food every single day, 1/3 of the population is obese and heart disease is the number one killer in the states. vegans are 1% of the population, and tend to rate healthier in study's then non-vegans because the vegan diet is usually high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. You can be unhealthy on a vegan diet if you eat junk food all day, the same way you could as a non-vegan. The only supplement that you can't receive naturally on a vegan diet is B12, which is a cheap supplement and is put into many foods already, such as milks and cereals. Many of the population is already b12 deficient, and the animals we factory farm aren't healthy enough so they are getting B12 injections.

Cholesterol does not rise from not eating it. Our body produces the amount of cholesterol we need, and too many people eat too much saturated fats from animals which causes cholesterol to rise, and that is why heart disease is the number one killer in the states. Vegans rarely have high cholesterol or high blood pressure, if they do it is usually hereditary.

You can get all your amino acids from plants.

Any dairy products such as cheese and yogurt are made from milk, so your argument doesn't make any sense.

I mean rainforest get killed for fields which is something not so much discussed among vegans. One of the problems also need to get solved.

Also what about genetic manipulated fruits. What do you think about that? I'm personally against genetic manipulated stuff

The first forms of genetic manipulation started thousands of years ago in a process that is known as selective breeding.

Genetically modifying foods is safer than selective breeding because it's much easier to control the outcome. There is no reason to be afraid of GMO's.

You're natural cholesterol production rises because you aren't consuming dietary cholesterol (which is proven to cause atherosclerosis) but your cholesterol levels lower dramatically (which is proven to prevent/reverse atherosclerosis). Wherever you heard that, you did not get the full story.

Every plant has all sources of amino acids. You do not need more than you get from eating plants. Getting more is detrimental to your health, in fact.

Vegans only need B-12 and Omega-3s. B12 tablets are very cheap and omega-3s can come from flax seed or walnuts. You really don't need that much, flax seed in your breakfast is very cheap.

You can ferment soy and nut milks, and also ferment vegetables to get the health benefits of fermented foods. Any potential health benefits that dairy products have are negated by their high saturated fat content, and any low fat options have a lot of sugar added.

What about the fact that we evolved by eating meat and eating meat leads to a healthy diet. As only meat contains Vitamin B12, unless you eat some types of alae.

Veganism is flawed just like being a Ommivore, nothing is perfect and it's your lifestyle. But just don't tell others that they should change their lifestyle because you don't agree with it.

I understand that and I guess it would be also better to feed world population, but something irks me about it. I mean there might be mistakes because you don't know the outcome yet.

Nope.

You don't need to be vegan to be interested in this study, if you care about climate change then this is an important report.

It's not that I'm uninterested. I'm a flexitarian myself to reduce pollution more than because I feel bad for animals. My sister was part of study, she was vegan for 3 months. Even tho she was super careful about having a balanced diet they stopped the study because like half of the participants including her were literally manurished and with imunine system problems.

. Its just that it remind me of a thread made by a vegan literally titled "I hate omnivores" in which he was rude and aggresive

The biggest issue people have when switching to a vegan diet is that they don't eat enough. You can fill up your plate to look the same amount as before when you had meat on it, but vegetables and other plants have much lower calorie density. You need to have second helpings, possibly more depending on what exactly you are eating and your stats. I would try an app like My Fitness Pal, you can put in your information, your goals and it will help you find out how many calories you should be eating and what all your macros should be. Make sure to log everything you eat, after a few weeks you will have a better understanding of your eating habits. I would also recommend seeing your doctor to make sure there is no other reason for you having issues gaining weight. Good luck! Feel free to PM me with any more questions!

Yeah but investing in your health is important. I think it's unfortunate that some people can't afford it (and that says more about our society than "being vegan") but a lot of people are just lazy because they don't want to learn more about it but just judge it.

Do I think there are some Vegans who are annoying? yes.

Oh and also, tofu is disgusting :rip:

Soy is toxic and ironically, the production of it is destroying the fertile ground everywhere.

Soy is not toxic, give me a study to prove that. And it is not necessary on a vegan diet to eat anyways.
