Watching GWB become president was pretty scary and upsetting but Trump is in another league entirely. Virtually every president has had to deal with a sensitive crisis such as when Russia annexed Crimea. Imagine how he would behave in a delicate situation. Additionally, based on Trump's behavior thus far he will likely go after anyone and everyone who criticizes him or disobeys him including foreign leaders. Imagine him treating Merkel the way he has treated Clinton. Imagine him treating Xi Jinping the way he treated Megyn Kelly. How can any reasonable person not be extremely worried? How doesn't everyone else think he was just an act who used a certain kind of behaviour to get all those votes? It's just politics. There's been an overreaction. Don't get me wrong, it could well be that those fears are well founded but shouldn't we wait, at the very least? Obama is still president. Let's go back to peaceful activism. Activism! Not protests against the current democratic process because we wanted another president! If liberals and Democrats (there's a difference) keep villifying the other side nothing will be accomplished. The world isn't divided into good and evil. Understand each other. I think everyone had agreed that not every Trump supporter is a racist. Then you should be asking them why they voted for him. There are legitimate reasons why people voted for him. If you keep ignoring this, then it will happen again.

Yes, we do need to try and understand each other and I agree that not everyone who voted for Trump is a racist (although they certainly endorsed racism by voting for him even if that wasn't their intention). On the other hand, there are times when compromise and understanding are appropriate and times when the only rational thing to do is fight for your beliefs and your freedom. Sometimes people or factions rise to power that turn out to be extremely dangerous or destructive. In such cases, resistance may be warranted over cooperation and unity. None of us know for sure if Trump will turn out to be as much of a loose cannon as he was throughout the election and I am inclined to seek unity and common ground as well but I think it's perfectly understandable that some people feel differently and I think we should respect their feelings. Im blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch.

Bear 7,515
She's right, but even if she could magically remove Trump I don't know how useful it would be. Trump is just the tip of an iceberg full of hate, ignorance and discrimination and if he was removed all that hatred would still exist. Trump is just a reflection on the amount of hateful extremist that are present. I do understand though without Trump a lot of these extremist wouldn't have so much of a voice. It's not the first time a bad candidate got elected (Reagan and Bush Jr). The only fear is because the media has ores ended Trump as the worst of human kind (there's so much worse!). Trump's approach was like any other politicians aiming to get votes (he wanted the trash votes and so presented himself in a trash way). And tbh that's part of the reason why he won, many are tired of being censored or attacked because they use offensive language and many think this PC culture has gone way overboard. Let's just wait to see what he'll actually do (and NOT what he's saying he will do). The fear mongering is usually a tactic of the Republican party, it's sad that the Democratic party have stooped down to their level. No one is fearmongering, people are afraid of his policy proposals. If he changes them, whatever but with what he has proposed, people are honestly right to be hopeless and scared. Trump has pretty much guaranteed that millions of Americans will take hits during his presidency with his proposals. Why should we not believe him on what he said he will do?
