The word "riot" is being used to belittle the actions of these protestors, but there is not a riot taking place at all, nor is a mob forming. Definition of riot: Spoiler ri·ot noun 1. a violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd. Definition of mob: Spoiler mob noun 1. a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence. Definition of protest: Spoiler pro·test noun 1. a statement or action expressing disapproval of or objection to something. Read these definitions and tell me which one the situation in the US matches most closely. Clearly, it is a protest, and according to the DEFINITION of protest, these people are only expressing disapproval of the election. For it to be a protest, an inherent cause is not necessary, so even if nothing can be gained from their actions, they are exercising a basic, peaceful right provided to all Americans. Do not say what they are doing is pointless as if that is enough reason for them not to participate.
