I hate the American voting system. Why not count all votes? This way it's really just about the swing states. :smh:

Anyways, I'm super excited! Anyone know when the revealing of the votes happens?

The candidate who wins the popular vote doesn't necessarily win the presidency. This graphic sums it up pretty well imo.

@Ibo I think it's cause we aren't a direct democracy. A Republic. So we're literally voting for electors.

And also the Electoral College avoids run off elections usually.

But I have many criticisms of it too.

some states have geographically different needs. if california was able to dominate elections you'd have sort of a tyranny of the majority situation. nobody wants to ignore the issues of the less populated middle states because thats how civil wars can start. huge problem to figure out when the founders were hammering out the constitution

btw it is definitely not perfect.

Yeah also this. State representation has been an issue in the past.

I agree with you. But it protects small states. I mean, California is worth like 10 states, and it would be unfair for it to control the whole nation. You know what I mean?

Anyone going to an election watch party?

I am at my university.

It will either be filled with cheers or mass hysteria and tears.

Between the Presidential race and the governors race back home, my nerves will be shot all day.

Trump is already calling voter fraud in Nevada 'cause they kept the polls open two hours after they were supposed to close (for early voting) :toofunny:

Though, he said it's so the DNC could bus in "certain people" to vote when in reality they just kept it open so everyone in line could vote, which is what they're supposed to do :nails:
