KyliesChild 16,907
Lately I have been seeing members stating that they dislike “Hey Girl", while I have to say it is one of my favorites off of the album. Here's why: To start things off, it's meaning. As fans of commercial music especially in a site with a relatively large demographic of young homosexuals, it is common that we have female artists we look up to and to us it seems that it is competitive. For females, everything is supposed to be better than one another—including beauty and other things affiliated with vanity when you can just cheer each other on. I've calling out your name Tell me that you need me ‘Cause I need you just the same Not only does it have lyrics that are beautifully written, but the minimalistic approach towards production and the vintage sound certainly fits what Gaga has been going for in terms of aesthetic. It may not be a bop (“Dancing in Circles") or a heartfelt ballad (“Joanne"), (“Angel Down") however it does not deserve the amount of appreciation (or underappreciation) it has been receiving. The outro is one of my favorites off of “Joanne", quite possibly in my top 5.

SKANK 14,288
I love Florence, and Hey Girl is one of my favorite songs off of Joanne. But I can't help but think she missed an opportunity by not having someone like Katy or Madonna on the song. I don't like Katy or Madonna, but it would have been a more impact gesture of women standing together and not needing to "one up each other" had she collaborated with someone who she was actually perceived to be in competition with. Lord Axel 824
Every time I see any Hey Girl hate on here I lose a year of my life It's my absolute favorite on the album, and the only song that I had genuine audible reactions to on the first listen, so yes I love it to death and it better be a single EDIT: forgot to say, I think when people get hype about a collab (like this), they imagine a perfect fusion of both artists' best songs, when in actuality it ends up being something completely different and therefore they're turned off ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱɪʟᴠᴇʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ ϟ†▽✰𝒿 ~Ɐ

REALITY 76,270
It's actually grown on me quite a bit. For a while, it was one of my least favorites from the album, but the more I listen to it, the more I just genuinely love it. I think it's because it's such a different sound from the rest of the album, which isn't a bad thing, it's just a bit different. I agree though, it's definitely an underrated song. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

I didn't even think about this I love it too but now I wish she would've done it with one of the "rivals" 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

crybrowz 3,247
It seems to be polarizing in the sense that everyone either loves or hates it. I personally love it and think its one of the best songs in her discography

Poissonche 12,365
I love it so much too. At first listen, I thought the intro was funny, because all I could think of during the "oohoo hooo"'s was a shampoo or a hair dye commercial, but now all it does to me is slaying me.
