"Heaven is not ready for you,Where do you think you're going?" its like a "What are you doing? Wake up! Don't do it" I made the connection when I was thinking about how she wanted to be called Joanne during this era and her explanation of how she wrote the album about a girl that turned out to be herself... and then it all made sense to me! It may be a reach (or not) but the song just went deeper when I looked at it that way, and it'll be even more powerful if what you're saying happens I felt these same connections too! So it wasn't just you! Although I do think the main message is the obvious one, that it's a song for her father, about her aunt. But all of her songs have multiple meanings, and places she draws inspiration. She's also always said she feels close to her aunt, like a bit of her spirit was reincarnated in herself. That she feels close to Joanne and like they're similar people who've had similar experiences. 8 minutes ago, Leaf said: I hunk she is also singing to the poem her aunt wrote. I've been wondering if she used any of her aunt's poems as lyrics! When she was talking about her father listening to the song, and her aunt's poetry, I was suddenly curious to know if she incorporated her poetry into that particular song. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I feel like it also talks about leaving her past behind, the young Gaga/Stefani. Girl where do you think you're going? is about her going back to basics and remembering the family and friends because that's what Joanne is about and what really matters to her. Been g true to herself. I'll mop you all across the floor, snatch your fυckιng weave out Βitch

Bam 1,695
The fact that the monsters are forgetting is Gaga also has lupus. Gaga also got sexually molested. Gaga said that Joanne's lupus got worse with that. I hope her therapy works very well and that shi is happy. Just a thought.
littlepotter 74,941
Oh honey I thought about this the first time I listened to this song. If we both die a natural, old age death, there will come a time when this song for me will be about her passing. But who knows, I might die sooner. What's worse is that I obviously am a Harry Potter super fan, and I love the writer like a mother. She is above 50 now... And her name is Joanne. chaeri pls

I know that Gaga thinks about her own mortality a lot, it's something I do too, and I was thinking about the fact that she's been asking us to call her Joanne, and how this album is supposed to be the messages she wants people to remember her by. And out of nowhere I thought... what if Gaga passed away suddenly? The song Joanne would, for us, become a song about her. And I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion oh my god. I want Gaga to live a long, long, life, but not everyone does. Just imagine, if she's passed away, listening to her singing these words to us in her own voice... Take my hand, stay Joanne (Gaga), heaven's not ready for you. Every part of my aching heart, needs you more than the angels do. Girl, where do you think you're going? Where do you think you're going, girl? If you could, I know that you'd stay, we both know that things don't work that way. I promised I wouldn't say goodbye, so I grin, and my voice gets thin. And honestly, I know where you're going. Baby, you're just moving on. and I'll still love you even if I can't see you anymore. I can't wait to see you soar Hide contents I would cry as hard as if she were a blood relative of mine Until Joanne came out I always sadly envisioned her funeral playing the bridge from "The Queen" "Stormy night come inside me like never before. Don't forget me when I come crying to heavens door. I will fly on a challenger across the sky. Like the Phoenix so you can remind them of the dream I bore." Horrible to think of, but being the crazed fan I am, I of course thought about the tragic what ifs
