Am I Really Into Just Gaga's Voice?

She had to adapt and change.  It was so important after ARTPOP. Even though I don't "feel" this era as much as the others, I'm happy for her to explore this change because it's so necessary at this point in her career. 

I fell in love with Gaga for more than just her voice. I loved her theatrical performances, her outfits, her IDGAF attitude, her knowledge and wisdom, her philanthropy and her hilarious publicity stunts (say what you will, but being carried down a red carpet in an egg is a publicity stunt of the highest order...and it was brilliant!). Now it appears she is shedding a lot of those things to let her voice shine through. And I don't mind because her voice is still "enough" for me. However I do hope she returns to the theatrics at some point in the future because it's one of the main reasons I've always loved her.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

I don't stan her just for the crazy outfits so yes, the voice is enough for me. Her personality is also the reason I stay, she always knows exactly what to say and is always into the things she does. :)

Sorry if you only primarily liked her for how tall her shoes were or how many extensions she had in her hair, it must be hard for you to still like her.

I disagree with most of what you said. But I respect it because it's written in a polite and respectful way. I don't think Joanne is a sell out, if she just wanted to sell she would have worn a lot of beautiful, GP-friendly outfits and cute gowns, made pop music with drake and do A LOT of promo. But I agree that this era needs better visuals

The reason I only stan for Gaga (instead of other artists with amazing voices like Adele) is because I grew up with her on stage antics and music videos.

I'm here for Joanne. I love the rawness in her voice, but I am underwhelmed with the era because I was use to the Gaga that put on a show stopping performance with visuals.

Even though I mostly disaree, I kinda see where you're coming from. Everytime I've loved the new album/era more than the one before it (C2C doesn't count here), but Joanne is the one that broke the cycle. ARTPOP is now still my fave. Although I love the rawness of Joanne, I do miss the visuals and performances as mentioned before. Still I love seeing her taking risks and a new direction. I'm just hoping for a compact era that maybe lasts a little shorter then usual tbh so she can start the new one. Pls don't come for me:poot:

Except... we're talking about Lady Gaga here.

To sellout would mean to conforms to the way record labels, managers, etc see them to make money through commercial success. If she was a 'sellout' during this era doesn't that mean she would go back to her The Fame theatrics where she was the most commercially successful?

Joanne may seem like a 'safe' route for the average pop-star but Gaga isn't an average pop-star; she was famed for the weirdness and this was the era in which that persona was shed completely in favor of doing music and visual styles she feels like doing currently (with success as merely a bonus).

For Gaga, Joanne is practically the opposite of what it would mean to sellout.

I side partially with this. I mean, we went from ARTPOP to Joanne, so it's obviously going to give mixed opinions. Do I think Joanne was worth 3 years? Honestly, no, I don't. A lot of people, myself included, think LG5 was not Joanne. I still think she scrapped a lot of it and went a whole new route.

I disagree with this however, this era still is Gaga. Who on Earth would ever think she would do an album like this? It was completely unthinkable, which is classic Gaga. It's what she wants to do now and it's what she's happy with. The whole statement about this album is her saying "I'm my father's daughter, my sister's sister." Her saying this shows the meaning of this era, it's simplistic, yes, but meaningful. And even so, I wouldn't necessarily call it 'simplistic,' but more 'toned down.' I think she'll be more crazy after this era. 

I love Joanne, it may not have been what we wanted or thought we were going to get, but it's amazing. Iconic as always.:queenga:

I understand what you're saying. I still have deep hopes that she doesn't get trumpled under the reception of ARTPOP and doesn't loose her spark.

When it comes to the vocal delivery, all I'm here for is epicness and pipes put to good use.

I don't get when people say she is showcasing her real voice with Joanne, well she's doing that since day one through her amazing live performances, acoustic versions and what not. I wish she dive into something more experimental or full something (rock, country...) or just stick to the pure pop. I somewhat hate when it's in the middle off the road like she wanted to do something different then she brings bloodpop to sprinkle some popish, gp friendly sounds all over it so her fans could enjoy it more?

I love Joanne, I don't see it in the future as my favorite Gaga album probably not even in top 3. I think she can do much better music wise, visually wise...everything.

Except 'The Fame' theatrics was exactly not the 'safe' route for an average pop-star at the time. Literally only Gaga could nail it. The idea of living your art 24/7.

With Joanne, I could name at least 4-5 other artists who could pull this off, if not better.

It's a sell-out to me more than on the commercial sphere. It's a sell-out to her own creation. For me, it's her saying: "I'm tired of my old ****" and her compromising to the "We want to see the real you! We want to see you personal and natural. No make-up. No bulshit" remarks made by so many people since her debut.

There is nothing revolutionary with pulling the re-invention card. The "this is the new me. The grown up, adult" card. It's been done so many times. Again, it's not necessarily a bad thing because this is who she is right now, I suppose. But I'm simply not feeling it like I believed I would.
