This era has shown me just how great ARTPOP was visually/performance-wise. I wish I could've appreciated it more at the time but I was too busy missing BTW. I loooove the music on Joanne but that's about it. It's missing something. What made Gaga so special as an entertainer. She's a rocker at heart so I don't know why this album cycle feels so contrived.

I listen to it all the time. But don't want to get sick of it.

It is her shortest album besides TFM though, right? Maybe that's why?

I remember me taking days just to explore Born This Way in its entirety.

Since the instrumentals leaked, I've been making "alternate versions" to listen to. Usually it's just as simple as recreating John Wayne from the Dive Bar Tour. You know, with the instrumental outro  I also added a bit to the beginning of Dancin' in Circles so the song doesn't start so abruptly. I made Perfect Illusion longer and added the guitar to the second half of the verses...stuff like that :oprah:

It helps to keep the music fresh and makes listening to the album versions even better. I did the same with most songs on ARTPOP but it was way easier 'cause we had some of the stems, the acapellas, and electronic music is easier to manipulate.

Long story short, the music will always sound fresh to me and my standom will always be intact :staymad:

You're stinky

I like the way you wrote this. Very honest and not over the top.

I'm listening to half of Joanne fairly regularly. But i get what you mean.

I was listening to Glory WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY more when it came out.

I do like this era though, its different and exciting. She's handling herself much better. I'm excited about the sales of Joanne. Without a doubt will be one of the 5 best selling female albums released in 2016. And I'm also excited to see how Million Reasons performs and to see the next single choices and videos.

so to sum it up. I'm really happy with the era, but not as thrilled with the music.

I'd say BTW is my favorite era just because of sentiment, but I really do love the Joanne era just because now we get to see Gaga the happiest she's ever been. I can't wait for the tour, and hopefully we get music videos for DH, DIC, and JW.

Tbh I feel the same, it feels like her previous albums had this kind of 'magic' to it, and now it's gone

maybe it's too early but I'm gonna say it regardless, Mark isn't that great of a producer or at least didn't show his full potential with Joanne

Joanne was released two weeks ago and it's already getting old to me. Don't get me wrong, I like every song on the album, but now the only song I listen to is Perfect Illusion. I'm actually really concerned because i've always loved Gaga's music to death, but Joanne is just so different. Not that I don't like different, I mean different in the way that the songs seem like they are lacking something. I can't put my finger on what it is. I guess the best way to put it is I feel like the songs lack that extra "oomph" that all of her previous album's have, besides The Fame. I guess what i'm trying to say is that I miss Gaga's rage and power, and it's toned down in Joanne, which is very understandable.

Don't stone me. I just want to see what you guys have to say

It's okay to not like an album. You don't have to throw your hands up in the air, make a huge scene, declare that you're leaving the fandom, burn your posters, and give up on her like some people do.

You can just accept the fact that you're not loving her work right now, slide back to being a casual fan, still check in on her, listen to her music when you feel like it, see if you like future albums she makes...

People forget sometimes that liking an artist doesn't have to be black and white, love or hate.

I've learned over the years because I used to stan hard core for other bands/artists, who I now rarely listen to.  And at first it felt like a crisis when I felt myself naturally drifting away from loving their music. But don't try to fight it or get angry or sad or disappointed, because it's fine, it happens, it's not the end of the world. I still listen to their music sometimes and follow the artists on social media and check in sometimes, and pay attention to new content they release.

P.S. there are tonnes of other artists to listen to in the mean time. You'll survive. And who knows what she'll do in the future. Lots of Madge stans left her side, only to return album cycles later.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I have been saying this ever since I heard he got involved

He did the best that he could, but this thread and joanne's charting performance clearly shows that it wasn't enough. Bring RedOne back, heck, even DJWS is better than this.

I have the same feeling, I don't listen to it that much

and I thought the era would be fun, but after Tuesday it feels like she is gonna cancel everything and become an activist for the rest of her career lol..

It really feels DWUW black out at the moment for me

it irks me that the overall feeling of the album is so regular and and generic. the songs are short, the lyrics are repetitive and predictable, and the production offers nothing new.

in general i appreciate the route towards a more tame impala sound but that direction just did not deliver in the interesting way it should have
