Susan Sarandon: "I won't vote for someone just because they're a woman"

She explained she is not against having a woman candidate, despite having been a vocal Bernie Sanders supporter, telling BBC Newsnight: “I want the right woman. There are great women that I admire that have headed nations."

The actor continued: “You’ve had a woman, I don’t know how you felt about that but I don’t vote with my vagina you know?

Interviewer Evan Davis asked her whether it was not "indulgent" to decline to vote for either of the two main candidates.

She responded that she does not want to vote for the "lesser of two evils" and wants to end the two-party system.

Sarandon also claimed Hillary Clinton is going to win because she has the support of “neoconservatives”, the press and the networks.

The actor said: “I am worried about the wars, I am worried about Syria, I am worried about all of these things that actually exist. I’m worried about fracking.

 "I’m worrying about the environment. No matter who gets in they don’t address these things because money has taken over our system."

i agree with her tbh. stop painting hilary as something good just because she didnt come from the same hell circle as trump, they're both scum.

Many now sit in disbelief that someone could vote for Trump over Hillary. I still sit in disbelief that anyone would have voted Hillary over Bernie.

That's a thought I wish more people had.  It was so annoying early on when many people kept bringing up how Hillary could be the first woman president as their main point.  It's as dumb as when Ginger Minj said she should win drag  race season 7 just because "it's time for a big girl to win".

 

But now, Hillary is the correct choice just because Trump is the only other choice and he's just awful no matter how you look at him.  You know the republican candidate is bad when he makes red states into swing states and he has his own party members ignoring him lmao

preech, Susan in my eyes was always racional and inteligent person, and spoke her mind on many many  more occasions and this is just one more reason to respect her..... honestly just beacuse there lots of dumbass celebs supporting Clinton, there is no reason for everyone else to jump of the cliff..... I am not even american, so in the end i dont care, than again i cant escape the press about american elections even in Europe

I know   There are few of my friends that I suspect this is the case for simply because I know for a FACT their personal views are so far removed  Clinton's

She's not wrong about voting for someone just because of their gender BUT if we all thought like this (by us I mean non-conservatives) we'd end up with Trump. 

It's either Hillary or Trump. 

Hillary was not my choice. I supported Bernie. But it's all about compromise. Drill that into your heads.

I like that she speaks her mind but you gotta be pragmatic. Change doesn't happen in a day or a year. 

Coming from a place that doesn't have a two party system, it's not all that's cracked up to be. Either no decisions can be made, or the same party rules for five decades.
