It's predictable that some would go down that route. I wish the hate had gone down the authenticity route instead. To see someone like Beyonce, who doesn't play an instrument (something which is practically a law in the country scene) and who doesn't make country music normally and has one country-influenced song on her album getting to perform at the CMAs instead of artists who actually have real passion for the genre is not good. How I wish Gaga could have performed here and won some new fans when they saw how talented she is and how she made multiple genuine country songs. To country fans, authenticity is #1 and Beyonce does not represent that for them. Performing here reeked of desperation to be liked by everyone, even those who clearly aren't interested. Maybe when Beyonce makes an album that's 50% country and finds a real passion for the genre, maybe then she should perform at the CMAs but as it is, one country influenced song gives you licence to perform at such a high profile event, over those much more deserving? Get outta here. I agree completely. I just wish all the "controversy" was over this and not the fact "Thugyonce"(as I've seen her referred to) performed. Girrr 1,086
I am saddened that racism drove most of the backlash over this performance, but I am in the same mindset as a few others in saying that Bey was out of place at this awards show. She is deserving of many things, though performing that song at that awards show was not one of them. I don't really blame the CMAs for deleting her name off social media posts. Given how much controversy she stirred and how country music is so far removed from pop culture and controversy, the performance was a blemish on the evening. It's just a PR thing. Instead of watching their most high-profile receive MORE hate and leave more fans turned off from tuning in next year, they panicked and deleted her from the evening. I think some fans are blowing this way out of proportion.

Addison Rae 16,838
This is awful, why did they remove them? They should have stuck by Beyoncé and kept the posts to show the racist white people that it's not okay for that type of behaviour to go down. Grown ass people using disgusting words on Twitter. KingRedd 3,139
Why is she out of place? I never bat an eye when I see a white person at the BET awards. Who cares? The backlash was bound to happen, but it doesn't excuse the behavior. On a positive note: It was fun seeing the Dixie chicks perform with her. It shows that behind the scenes, some musicians and entertainers respect one another no matter the genre. May I Read You? 😎

Spartacus 4,485
Disgusting. And this is a bit off topic, but I just had an argument with my BF about this matter. You CAN be racist and still like black ****. The notion of "I'm not racist, I have black friends" or "I'm not racist, I listen to Beyoncé" does not mean you're not racist. -𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐌𝐀™

None of the white pop girls received this type of backlash. It's definitely related to racism. FreePalestine
