Ferrer Zorola 3,966
for a woman who needs over 50 writers on her records her songs are uber bland and not catchy at all so yes she's overrated and she's the type of singer that rules the US only and that gets mistaken for "being the biggest popstar" It's like TS. Taylor Swift has a decade long career. But only until she released her last album/she dropped country she got known outside the US. StrawberryBlond 14,862
Never truly got into her. Got Survivor back in the day as a gift and she was ok back then, before she became insufferable. Her debut album was her best, but she fell off the wagon after that. The most she can seem to do now is 'decent,' no more than that. She's got one big standout track per album and that's about it. Her voice is good but if you're singing mediocre songs with a good voice, it doesn't mean much to me. She can't play an instrument (no, I don't view the voice as an instrument, this coming from someone who loves to sing). She needs serious amounts of help to write a song and needs a massive team to do so. And dancing, well, that has nothing to do with being a singer. Then we factor in the copying and the superior attitude. All in all, I never got how she attained her untouchable goddess image. She bores me. Fanta 5,019
I enjoy her but she's not an artist that has my respect. Beyonce to me is merely a puppet, not in the aspect of being controlled rather she hardly contributes anything besides her voice and money. Her albums are 'good' but not incredible. Her performances are really good and very entertaining, however I never understood why she was always spoken of as if she was a goddess or as if the original greats of music never existed. She is not on their level, and I say this because one thing they were all able to display throughout their careers was passion in their art. They were invested. Her marketing strategy is to market herself as a 'legend' or 'queen' and people buy into that. I find her boring and robotic, and she never even speaks all she does is perform and take pictures. What in the hell?

I would truly respect her when she is gonna come to an interview and can explane the whole creative process of a song as Gaga does ( Grigio Girles - me with our friends drank wine and cry and the idea came ..... etc ) it means staying true to your art and don't compromise yourself by treating the music that you put out as a product , music is passion and much more than that "your point was to diminish the fact that she used 72 writers and 20 producers for an album and tacky marketing strategy" No it wasn't. I come from a creative field where collaboration is extremely important and I understand the talent and creative vision it takes to herd 92 people, get the best out of them and collage their ideas into one cohesive piece of work. Beyonce is the creative director of her albums. She is the one going "I like the melody of this pre-chorus, lets fit that melody with these lyrics and make it an actual chorus. I like this beat, lets match it with this bit of instrumentation. I mean ****ing Jack White praises Beyonce talking about how she took " just sort of a sketch of a lyrical outline" and turned it into this "bodacious, vicious, incredible song." Jack White got credited for a sketch of a lyrical outline he had. When you watch a movie, the director gets credit as the main creative genius behind the film. But on big budget movies they can have a crew of around to 3,000-4,000 crew members. The director isn't doing it themselves. They have someone in charge of cinematography who may work completely on a storyboard, they have someone in charge of editing who chooses the pace of the film, what shots to use and what to cut, they have someone in charge of SPX and someone else in charge of VFX who are creating optical illusions and visual effects like explosions and computer generated imagery, there are animator who are designing the looks of the dragons or aliens, they have someone in charge of wardrobe who are designing and/or sourcing costumes, they have, there are sound designers who work to create a sonic landscape within the film, they have people working on creating sets and props and I could go on and on. The director might not have even written the story! The director in the end gets the credit. Why? Because they oversee everything. They are approving every single detail, they are working with all the departments telling them the type of feeling, look and sound they want. They are saying yes or no to all the ideas. We understand that it's the director's vision all of these people are working towards and we can see the difference when such a large, talented, crew has a bad director and when they have a great director. With a bad director, the film is disjointed. There doesn't seem to be any clear reason for the choices made, some of the choices clash and every part of the crew seems to be on a different wavelength. You don't understand the immense hard work, creativity and conviction it takes to utilise the talents of such a large team and weave their ideas and contributions together to make one cohesive work. You don't understand how much creative vision it has to say: "Okay, that one lyric is good - but lets change the melody - I like the theme of this song but I don't like the song itself, I like this pre-chorus lets make it the actual chorus and change the production to something more like this. This song just isn't angry/sad enough for it's subject matter. I like this instrumentation, can we get this person to work with this other person? I like this, but we should change the key here. Okay I want this to sound more gospel, there needs to be some soul in this. I like this intro, lets match that up with this other song. I think Kendrick would suit this song, lets send it to him. " To bring the best out of a team that large and then to collage all of these different melodies, versus, lyrics, themes, pre-choruses, choruses, productions, beats, samples, instrumentations and so on into a cohesive piece of work? That's creative and extremely impressive. She made a ****ing brilliant album - and she was the creative director behind it.
GagaTheExplorer 3,053
well no one can deny, she is talented to performing and has a good voice, but she isn't too smart, she is dumb as a rock, (look at her speeches and you could confirm that she didn't finish the school ) and she is miles away from be an artist (she couldn't make a song by herself alone or play any instrument) and tbh her music is meh to me, and her perfomances don't impress me at all, it's like she is making the same choreo and singing the same song all the time I know I sound like a completly hater but I'm just annoyed that no one can feel free to say negative thing against this woman without being sending to hell by her fans, critics, media and illuminatis I mean is like an internet rule than you only can refer to her as Queen B, oh faq off

LaLuna 12,732
She's a great performer, I'll give her that, but there are many more female singers out there with better voices. I re-watched Dreamgirls recently, and Jennifer Hudson blows her out of the water, both in terms of singing and acting. I'm not saying she's not talented, but she's definitely overrated. mic 1,415
She does rule the music industry and influences young generation. Of course even though her material is mainly produced by hard work of other people, she was the one to be chosen to deliver it. It's still some kind of achievement imho. her music is all about gathering certain groups of people : mainly women/African American touching issues which are controversial and supporting these groups. It is very clever because however she approaches the topic she will always get praise from public and critics who are striving to be politically correct. at the end of a day her music is decent and she gives legendary performances. So she adds color to our world which is always good. Still I think Rihanna will overtake her soon - it's clear that Lemonade and Anti were produced with intention to fill similar niche.
