The single killed her career with the GP and she will never recover from that in my opinion.

+ God I hate that album

It annoys me that Gaga is treated like she's fallen off the face of the earth when the likes of Beyonce and Drake can do barely any promo and yet their albums sell regardless. No one needs to be informed that they're out, they just sell and people know about them. As a Brit, I'm especially annoyed about this. As far as my memory can suffice, the last time Beyonce did a UK performance that wasn't a live outdoor gig (Glastonbury, Chime For Change, her own gigs) was on the X Factor final in 2008 when she did that duet with Alexandra Burke. I literally can't think of any other appearance she did like this for promo. She did an interview with Piers Morgan just before her pregnancy, but that was about it. She doesn't do promo in the UK anymore. Yet, her last 2 albums have been a massive success here, Drunk In Love went top 10 and Hold Up just missed out at #11. All her singles from Lemonade charted somewhere and the album's sold over 300k to date and her UK stadium tour sold out. And as for Drake, he very rarely does promo too and despite the fact that he had no video for One Dance or promoted it, it went on to have 14 consecutive weeks at #1 and has sold over 1.2 million to date, becoming one of the most successful singles in the UK ever and almost beating out Bryan Adam's record of longest stint at #1.

So, why on earth do people need to be constantly informed that Gaga has a new album out to buy it? Why does she have to do excessive promo to sell? Why does she need to have big hit singles to sell? These artists can get by just fine without it. And no, I don't believe it's because they have more talent or star quality. She's at least level with Beyonce on those counts and it's an insult to compare her to Drake. The public always has their eye on the wrong horse, that's all I can say.

Someone from the GP told me that a few days ago. Idk if they saw me listening to Joanne on iTunes, but they said it. I, of course, told them about Joanne, but she seemingly didn't really care. I was originally gonna ask y'all if Gaga will be remembered, but she randomly brought Gaga up, so I know she will be.

I just hate how she'll seemingly only be remembered for like 3-4 years of her career, (2008/9-11) idk. No one talks about the latter half of it, it's so annoying. How her ground-breaking hits are songs we all got over years ago… smh.

I'm glad Joanne is looking promising to be as iconic as The Fame era, but I'm still irked over what she said lol.

Am I alone in feeling meh about this, or not? BTW, This thread isn't for the selfish who only care if they themselves remember Gaga. It's her legacy, not yours.

I love Joanne but there is no way :nails:

My gay roommate who's the most basic bitch ever, he'll like whatever pop girl is on the radio, didn't want to listen to ANYTHING from Joanne before the break (last week) just because he says Gaga is old news and became weird and not interesting (he hated perfect illusion).

But during the break, his boyfriend (bless him) forced him to listen to the whole album. And now, this bitch has it on blast everyday telling me how good they are when i'm like "DUH I TOLD YOU BITCH". GP is dumb, but Joanne can truly make them fall in love with her again.

Yes, it happens oh god, do i get pressed by those comments. Though i've had different comments, but that's the reality of the real generic idea of someone who ocasionally listens to music and listens to mostly what's hot and mainstream.

If she slays the movies, that will change, most likely.

My cousin said something like : "Even if she was only famous for 15 minutes, these were some amazing 15 minutes. She's created a legacy for herself, people will remember her."

It doesn't really upset me, even if it turns out true. People will remember her.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

I think the fact that BTW spent 6 weeks at number one is indicative that the GP loved it. All it did was damage her appeal to redneck America, but Gaga never gave a **** about them anyway.

My bf told me this last week: I feel like you're the ONLY one who cares that she's releasing a new album.

He didn't mean harm but I was genuinely annoyed but what he said :/ (plus it's NOT true)

Oh my boyfriend told me like 2 days ago that he read an article bashing Gaga for making songs about movements she doesn't know about, and taking advantage AKA Ange Down and the black guy that was killed by police brutality. And he was like "their arguments were supported very well". I was like SHUT THE ****, YOU KNOW NOTHING. bye."

The thing is, Gaga's initial popularity was absolutely phenomenal. She had the world in the palm of her hand. She influenced pop culture, pop music, the fashion industry... and everyone talked about her. Even my grandparents talked about her and they were 90. Those first three or four years were stratospheric, like as big as the Spice Girls.

But, similar to the Spice Girls, that kind of brand image only lasts a few years before it becomes stale. The Spice Girls broke up before they became like that, but Gaga kept going. Her inevitable decline in popularity is only noticeable because of the colossal peak from which she fell. She's still one of the leading ladies of pop music, but people will always say things like "Lady Gaga who?" and "it's like she dropped off the face of the earth", because their only frame of reference is when she was on everyone's lips. And now she's just a pop star with the same level of popularity as her peers, it's far more noticeable that she's less talked about.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

I mean, you can't deny that she has lost her degree of star power, but you also can't deny how she's innovated and is still innovating the industry and putting out quality performances and albums that many pop stars wouldn't even be able to dream up

Is does bother me to a small extent that people act as if she completely disappeared, but really the only reason she supposedly disappeared is a result of their inability to seek their own causes and rely on radio and other media to tell them what is in and what is not

she hasn't lost her star power, she's just not a fad constantly. theres a huge difference. ill stick with her being asked to perform at the oscars/superbowl/grammys/amazing tributes than to hear the "kids at school" talk about her lol.

FATCAT

I have friends who just recently found out that Formation is on an album, and that Lemonade exists.

So, don't get discouraged. Some of us are just more informed on the music scene.
