StarstruckIllusion 52,570
Someone from the GP told me that a few days ago. Idk if they saw me listening to Joanne on iTunes, but they said it. I, of course, told them about Joanne, but she seemingly didn't really care. I was originally gonna ask y'all if Gaga will be remembered, but she randomly brought Gaga up, so I know she will be. I just hate how she'll seemingly only be remembered for like 3-4 years of her career, (2008/9-11) idk. No one talks about the latter half of it, it's so annoying. How her ground-breaking hits are songs we all got over years ago… smh. I'm glad Joanne is looking promising to be as iconic as The Fame era, but I'm still irked over what she said lol. Am I alone in feeling meh about this, or not? BTW, This thread isn't for the selfish who only care if they themselves remember Gaga. It's her legacy, not yours. JoanneMonster 9,026
People have the Dory syndrome, don't worry about it, gaga will be remembered, just wait and see. I See You
Gagz 2,579
3 songs charting on the BB Hot 100 and the 2nd biggest female debut of the year would say otherwise

Robo Ga 15,297
I had a similar experience. I was telling my roommate yesterday about how good Joanne is, and suggested we listened to it, & she was just like "I just miss the old Gaga, can you put on Bad Romance" and I was like PAY ATTENTION, she's been doing so much awesome sh*t since then but you're just not listening. It makes me thirsty for a Joanne era radio hit so that the GP can wake up. 🤖⚡️
PI Floppedt 904
...and went to another planet, created and grew an empire No, but honestly, I can see where they are coming from. These days, I feel like Gaga has been more adamant about making music that pleases her and her fans. She just prefers to give to her global community of fans who will follow her musical journey than to try to please people who will notice her as soon as she appears and forgets her as soon as she disappears. I don't actually hate PI
xoxo cupcakke 4,781
I mean, you can't deny that she has lost her degree of star power, but you also can't deny how she's innovated and is still innovating the industry and putting out quality performances and albums that many pop stars wouldn't even be able to dream up Is does bother me to a small extent that people act as if she completely disappeared, but really the only reason she supposedly disappeared is a result of their inability to seek their own causes and rely on radio and other media to tell them what is in and what is not
Clip 5,100
Not everyone thinks that. Most of the people don't care about popstarts and her careers so unless they had a recent hit, they aren't going to know where they are. Ask anyone about, idk, beyonce (I think the last time the GP knew about her was the SuperBowl), Shakira or Katy. Actually, I'm surprised that a lot of people knew that she had released a jazz album with Tony Bennet.
ANUSLOVER96 260
Gaga reached her peak within the first few years of her career... other artists take some time to reach their peak. She may not replicate the same popularity but she's still very successful and will be remembered.
MaryJaneHolland 77,348
Well, it's not like that lady was wrong Gaga didn't have a song as big as PF/BR, since when? 2011.... She had some show-stopping performances that everyone was talking about (Oscars 2015/16 and the national anthem) and that's all.... So, yeah, Gaga needs another smash hit, which doesnt seem like we will get this year (PI isnt one for sure, and MR... well, it's possible, but... ).... let's see what whether the third single (hopefully Slay Wayne ) will do magic or not? I honestly hate my friends when I bring up Gaga, they treat her so lowly and just bring up ARTPOP as an indicator that she had completely flopped her career. But God help me when I bring up Mariah's flops. They wouldn't even let me enjoy the Perfect Illusion video when it premiered, like I'm your best friend, you know how much this means to me and you're gonna try and shade Gaga's career when really she's doing better than other pop musicians right Also, one of my best friends is a huge Butterfly but I'm ready to bring up Joanne's and ARTPOP sales in comparison to anything Mariah has released in the last six-eight years
Chelseaaaaaa 1,453
There are several types of GP-like people. That's one breed, but many others know Gaga. A few of my friends just associated her with 'Bad Romance' and the meat dress until she did the Sound of Music medley at the Oscars so now that's her cultural connection. My father associates Gaga with the infamous VMA performance of 'Paparazzi' AND her jazz album. He only knows the title track (mostly thanks to the Grammys performance) but he is still aware. He doesn't know she has a pop album out, but knows about the jazz era. That's far from her being irrelevant.... at least generally; as a pop star it can be debated! A bunch of my other family members think of Gaga now and think of the woman's imperial phase-- duh -- but don't hesitate to mention AHS. So, there's that. IMO, there's not one clear idea of who Gaga is and what she's doing to the GP. There's different levels of recognition. She should aspire to get on Bey's current level. Most people know of 'Lemonade' to some extent. My grandmother is aware she had a visual film premiere on HBO (although that's where the consciousness ends) whereas my 11 year old sister knows every word to the songs on the album. I'd like for eveeeeeeeeeeryone to be informed of 'Joanne' even if they haven't heard it. That's what her legacy needs. I believe we'll get there but not until the Super Bowl. Everyone, at least in the states, will then correlate her with that performance for years to come. This will impact the new album as a result. For better or worse. duke99unc01 37
Meh in the current digital age people's attention spans last about 10sec. So frankly I'm not surprised someone said it. It's kinda normal for celebrities to ebb and flow from the public consciousness...unless you're a Kardashian anyway lol. Besides, giving GP a break from Gaga's amazing talent isn't such a bad thing imo, then they get all hyped to "rediscover" it even though it never really went away.
