ShockPop 7,747
She had hay fever around the time of some studio sessions. The opening line on the album particularly gets me.

Oriane 21,004
Of course I noticed that too, I don't know if she does it on purpose or if it's because of the cigarettes, I don't know if she smokes more now than she did before. But during the Fame era for example it was way worse because of drugs she previously took, she sounds more natural and controlled in this album. I just hope she's staying healthy, she sounded ill in the first dive bar show and her voice was clearly not at its best, it got better since. duke99unc01 37
Ill? Uh no. There's an unpolished quality to her voice (particularly on some tracks like Joanne) that gives this album a very distinctive feel. It really showcases her amazing vocal talent imo and absolutely love it. One of the very best aspects of the album are her vocals. Whereas you hear ill, I only hear raw emotion. I'm sure Mark helped encourage and support her singing in this style as it was also a hallmark of Amy Winehouse's album.

On lush life she has time to breathe and the notes aren't nearly as high. Young, wild, American... Lookin' to be something

Darcklighter22 2,358
She's always been nasally, plus with an album with little to no vocal edits, of course, it's going to show more in songs. Also with the sound she is going for the album, it can also be a wanted way of singing the words.

My guess is that it was suggested at a certain forum and a group came over to troll for fun. Pathetic people with pathetic lives. I don't think they're being a troll at all. They've just got an opinion you don't agree with or like... OT: I don't hear the 'ill' sound you mention but she definitely changed her vocal for the album. River 116,437
With Joanne I guess she cried during the recording so this is why she sounds sick.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I noticed it especially in the song AYO (when she sings ayo ayo we smokin' em all, it sounds as though her nose is stuffed and she has the flu, or is it just us?), did you notice it in other songs? Could it be because of how Gaga been smoking cigs (although she says she's stopping now)? Do you think her voice changed in her new album? She isn't cleaned up and filtered. This is a raw vocal album. If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won't Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses.

But the husky fried ones she has been serving up since C2C. Well imo she sounded better from then but fair enough. TIHTY Oscard, Sound of Music Medley was done since then so.. She just uses her voice in diff ways for diff things. For example, Diamond Heart's lyric "Some asshole broke me in, wrecked all my innocence", of course it's gonna be a raw vocal. Joanne of course is raw bc she's crying. John Wayne isn't, Dancin' in Circles isn't, etc.
