Yeah, a bit.

Though I adore the music way too much to be that bothered about it.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Critics have constantly let their opinions of Gaga get in the way of actually reviewing her work. It's like every review is a critique of her as a person, and not the music.

I'm disappointed and a little surprised her score isn't better. I thought she would be in the mid seventies. I'm not as surprised as maybe I should be though because I was really surprised by ARTPOP's low score and learned to lower my standards after that. I also can't tell if I'm being biased or not. I feel like I don't view Gaga accurately because I love her so much haha.

Or maybe you just have to be a really big fan in order to fully understand and appreciate her music. A lot of critics criticized her for not being authentic and I think you really have to keep yourself up to date with all her interviews to know that she is actually being her most authentic right now.

Personally, I prefer opinions from other artists rather than journalists who write their opinions. Aren't we all critics to some degree? We are all on here or other social media platforms putting our opinions out there - good and bad ones. Those critics, they are just "opinions" and everyone is entitled to their own. Album and song sales/downloads are far more telling about the overall reception of a new release.

I think about this every time a movie is "critically acclaimed" or Oscar-winning. More times than not, I can't even make it through half of a movie and other movies that people might say are stupid are some of my favorites. But that's my opinion and they have theirs. I say who cares, if you like it, enjoy it! I know I've had the album on repeat since the day it came out!

No.

The album would have more acclaim if a different woman released it. It's Gaga, and unfortunately, the critics soured on her long ago, so there's not much she can do to change it. She's polarizing. You either love or hate her.... especially in 2016. A mixed reception is better than a total bashing a la ARTPOP, though.

I dunno, I just think some of the reviewers had already made up their minds about the album before listening to it, because most of the negative reviews always refer to Gaga in the context of her career rather than this particular album.

I feel like some people will always perceive a new album in the light of the previous one. This happens to sales and artists who go through imperial phases. The album that is great and magnificent will always benefit the next album simply from the hype. Born This Way benefited so much from TFM but as the era stood on its own, it tapered towards the end. ARTPOP, for all the messes, also had to suffer the tail-end of the GP being turned away by BTW's LGBTQ-preachy stance.

Joanne on its own is excellent and definitely is at least a 75-tier album but some people can't just get over from ARTPOP as obviously seen through their reviews always saying how ARTPOP and C2C happened.
