They just gave up on Judas really quickly and moved on to TEOG right away but that was after Judas had already been released plus a video

 

Also BTW, Judas, TEOG were too condensed. 3 singles in like 3 months plus non stop promo...

I'm kinda annoyed Gaga changed the single once again just because it's doing good on the charts it's really frustrating, she says she doesn't care about the charts but when stuff like this happens she changes the single last minute, I don't expect million reasons to do good but I hope it will on the radio, Gaga needs to either ignore the charts or think through her decisions a little more , so sorry to be negative idk if anyone feels this way asvwell

Every artist cares about charts whether they admit it or not

 

Even if your one of the few that doesnt care about money... its still nice to have your work succeed because it means more people are appreciating it. Who wants to work hard on their art and then not have much of an audience???

 

99% of artists care about charts to one extent or another. Even if their decisions are not affected by it, by preference theyd still rather their stuff do well

BDR was supposed to be the second single before it was changed to Poker Face. Boys, Boys, Boys was probably gonna be the last single off of the Fame if the entire The Fame Kills debacle didn't happen, and probably force release the Fame monster a little earlier then meant to be.

Then there is of course, Monster/Dance in the Dark/Alejandro from The Fame Monster.

Born This Way had the obvious and in obvious. There is the sudden third single of Edge of Glory right after Judas. Marry the Night was also supposed to be the first single instead of Born This Way.

Of course there's DWUW vs Venus from ARTPOP.

And now we have Joanne. of course since everyone decided on Perfect Illusion as the first single from the album, something tells me there was another Fame Monster esque debate, so they settled on a third option. You have to wonder what everyone else wanted as the original single?

Honestly, changing the single from a-yo to MR was a very rushed decision, they were just so excited because the song went #1 in the US, but they didn't bother looking at the behaviour of the song in the charts (it left the #1 spot already)... it just had its momentum due to carpool karaoke success.... but i still think ayo was a safer bet

Yeah. However, the message of Born This Way was probably too important to her. However the original marry the Night concept made it into the video. The skull girl and guy. I think a lot of everything else was made specifically for Born This Way.

No. Hair was a promo single. That's all it was. And the said single cover was from the Nick Knight photoshoot, like Edge of Glory's was. Edge of Glory just did so well she upgraded to single status.

Hair was just promo, buzz.

Plus also, we probably would still be going over the video concepts if hair was a single.
