The Super Bowl Halftome viewership isn't always 100% credited to the entertainer themselves anyways. Katy's performance only made the viewership spike up by 15-20 million, meaning 100+ million were already watching the SB anyways and just happened to catch her performance yup. it really depends on the teams playing at the finals. She's also polarizing and culturally defining so even if people don't like her they'll watch. Similarly, they don't have to keep up with her to associate her with iconic moments and want to see another one (the Super Bowl) which will also bring viewers in. The NFL claims it's due to the election, but most of the comments that follow that argument suggest that it's all the athletes taking a knee during National Anthem. It just figures Gaga would finally get the halftime show when NFL popularity is struggling. Other fanbases will blame Gaga. I can see it already.
