Joanne changed the expectations we have for Gaga

I think that now that Gaga has released Joanne, and now that we know how it sounds like, expectations for upcoming Gaga albums won't be the same. Joanne marks a pivotal moment in Gaga's career. From now on there will be a Gaga before Joanne and Gaga after Joanne. What I mean by this is that from now on, our expectations for Gaga albums won't simply be an album full of dance songs. From on now future Gaga albums could be full of many ballads and mid-tempo songs and little to no dance songs. Also, our usual expectations that Gaga's music will be obvious pop music will be gone. From now on Gaga's music will be much more broad and experimental, music that might be mostly non-pop music will light traces or maybe even no traces of pop. Finally, from now on we should expect a bigger emphasis in storytelling in lyrics rather than straightforward catchy pop lyrics. All in all, Joanne will always be looked as the album the opened the box that many people always put Gaga in.

True, but we didn't know what to expect from Joanne either.  I think her turning point was cheek to cheek.

C2C was the push towards that moment. But Joanne is the first true Gaga album were she deviates greatly from her usual music.

I really hope she goes full on rock/glam/70s disco next album. Plus with some vapourwave sounds.

Yes. But it wasn't Gaga's original music.

True, if people can admit the reality of it and that is only a good thing.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

True, but from that point, we didn't know what to expect. She claimed she would release lots more jazz albums, she changed her fashion totally, she released TIHTY and did the sound of music at the Oscars. I feel like the new her started when she released C2C and after that was released no one knew what to expect when she did release original music.

Agree! Though I didn't for one second think Joanne was gonna have pop songs and was surprised that it contained actual bops.

Joanne will teach people that an album is not a "side project" just because it's not dance pop.
