What about DIC as a single?

What about Dancin' In Circles as a single at some point during this album era?

I think it's a totally different sound for Gaga single-wise and could be received very well on radio and could potentially produce a video with some choreography. I think it's my favorite song on Joanne and it could very well be this album's Rude Boy (aka a dance-y song on an otherwise not so danceable album).

It really is the album's only kinda lighthearted song. It's catchy, radio-friendly yet completely different to anything out right now on Top 40.

Really, I think it could be a hit. I can vision an amazing video for it already. We could even have a Beck cameo!

What are your feelings?

Anything The Weeknd puts out gets eaten up by radio and he's got the most explicit lyrics ever. Sex, drugs... He's got not limits. Besides, isn't a little controversy somewhat fun? :hor:

We have already discussed this... :icega: If songs like Side to Side and S&M can be on the radio then why not?

DIC would make a good third or fourth single in Q1 of 2017. It's fresh, fun, erotic, and TFMGa all in one. And is one of my favorites on Joanne! Definitely see high charting with DIC.

This!

Gaga needs to play the singles safe. I have really come to enjoy DIC. But it's still a song about masturbation, and Gaga songs that are directly about sex, Usually don't do well.

We need to keep in mind that she's only just now winning the broader audience back.

The biggest problem with this song isn't it's context, it's the fact that it is not in the least bit subtle. Every other line is "touch myself". It's the simplest song on the album to understand, and to be honest, one of the most boring parts of the album. I don't get why everyone stans it so much.

I like the song, but I don't think it's single-material. The lyrics are far too risque for most mainstream radio and the reason DiC is different from songs put out by The Weeknd and Rihanna is that Gaga is incredibly clear about what she's saying here: "Funk me downtown." S&M is explicit, yes, but it's so catchy it feels like a regular pop song. I don't think a whole lot of people totally realized what it was about (and I think you'll find that's the case for many pop songs; the GP is not particularly interested in that as long as it sounds good and isn't overtly vulgar). Other than that, however, The Weeknd and Rihanna's smashes walk a very thin line. Gaga, on the other hand, is out in the open with this song and leaves little the imagination with her lyrics. The song isn't fast or catchy enough to cover it up. It's a slower, tropical-vibe song that leaves the lyrics out to dry in the open. If it were a faster song and she sang quickly through them in some spots, sure. But she doesn't, and that's why this would be a disastrous single choice.

Yes but later. However I don't think it's that much of a "different" sound for her. Sounds like Alejandro

Well this song was a hit...
