I know for a fact that it's true in Germany, so I think the USA (aka one of the most corrupt countries in the world ) won't be any different. The label who sponsors the record deal of the winner of course will prefer songs by affiliates. If the winner of the voice this seasons gets a deal with Universal, you can be sure it's payola.
