Shipments are the number of copies distributed. Sales are the actual copies that people buy Anyway, certifications are based on shipments. Let's say you have a CD store, you buy 10 copies of Joanne, these are shipments, you sell 5 copies (sales) and u give back the 5 copies but they count anyway for certifications, it's actually really messy.
