With some forecasts putting Bruno Mars’ first-week number as low as around 125k, many observers are expressing surprise—if not outright shock—at the low number for what was once expected to be a Q4 monster, with some attributing the situation to Mars’ acting as his own manager. The ultra-talented, highly charismatic artist will have a series of high-profile TV looks leading up to his Friday release, including the AMAs, 60 Minutes and Carpool Karaoke, which may spike 24k Magic’s performance to something more, well, 24-karat. Might we also see deep discounting at retail and DSPs to help push the total higher? It’s certainly fair to say that an established artist manager would be pulling all available levers. Stay tuned.

Was just about to post this.

Gaga significantly outperformed Bruno which says a lot about Joanne's success (which is downplayed on GGD for whatever reason). Putting the obvious monsters aside like Views/25/Lemonade, it's one of the strongest releases of the year commercially.

Bruno's predictions will blow up.

despite the promo he will get that week, it seems like he will debut with less than joanne, who would have expected that :usrs:

so that means that after 24k magic and starboy gaga will remain on the top 5 debuts of the year :whitney:

but I'm speaking way too early, let's see how the predictions will go later

I think Bruno will do less than Gaga, at least sales wise, which is totally not expected..

This just proves to you how strong an album seller Gaga really is, but lets wait for his final numbers so we can discuss it properly. Anyways, 24k Magic is horrible imo.

I mean sure, the album is doing fine but what everyone wants is singles success. That's so much better. I know, I know "but albums bring in more money". However, we all know tours are where the real money is. And when you have hit songs that connect with people, that is when they want to go to your tour to see you perform your iconic hits.

Tell that to Beyoncé. Singles success doesn't matter with touring.

Plus with the Super Bowl she's promised a huge US tour anyway. Easily gonna blow past $100M with the tour. If she can do that, nail the SB, and push Joanne  to platinum in US-- She will notch a pretty strong era.

Beyoncé has several songs near 1M US sales from LEMONADE tho

And you're assuming MR won't be a hit in the case of worrying about Gaga's single sales.
