Angel Down And The World We Live In

I've openly supported the BLM movement by going to a local BLM rally a few weeks ago. As an insanely pale white woman, I was afraid I'd stick out like a sore thumb but I went anyway. I was afraid that African Americans would think I was mocking them by showing up. However I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of appreciation and love I received by showing up. Every race was represented in that rally and we were all marching hand in hand for a great cause. For that hour, we weren't defined by our races but by the fact that we came together for a great cause. The truth is every life matters no matter the color of our skin or the gender we sleep with. If you strip away everything, we're all entitled to one thing and that's life.

Listening to Angel Down made me realize something: we all think "it doesn't involve me/someone I love so why should I care?". People tend to forget that we need to speak out and support eachother because one day something will happen that involves you/someone you love and there will be nobody left to speak out for you. Everybody has the power to plant a seed of kindness which then produces a domino effect in the world we live in. We need to come together as brothers and sisters because if you strip away skin, we all have a skeleton that looks like the person next to us. As gaga once said "it's always wrong to hate but it's never wrong to love".

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

I completely agree. I find myself in a state of depression when I think about the state of the world for too long. It's something that I think about a lot, and more and more since all the riots and shootings and protests the past couple of years. I find myself feeling so hopeless and angry and upset. As soon as I heard the first line of Angel Down it hit me, and by the end of the first listen I was in tears.  Thinking about it all right now is already making me feel upset.

But you're right. We are all here to fight this fight together, and hold each other up. To use our individual voices, no matter how quiet we feel, to try and make any kind of difference. We need to hold our brothers and sisters up with support and make it known that we want change. Kindness, compassion, and bravery. All the values that Gaga teaches are important.

I'm so glad she wrote this song. It's my favourite ballad that she's written, even though it cuts me up every time. It is so important that more stars use their voices this way. We are fans of a really special woman.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Exactly. I volunteer with my daughter every weekend with my local food bank passing out food to whoever needs it. There's a mom and her 3 kids that come every Saturday to receive a food basket and she always tells me that I'm a saint for getting up at 6am on a Saturday to pass out food baskets. "I wish I could get my kids to do that" she tells me. You can honey. It's never too early to start teaching kids about kindness and compassion. Even the little things you think won't make a difference, really do in the big picture
