Also come to mama at the end and some parts of Perfect Illusion. But duh it doesnt matter. Gaga and her team knows this and they want raw vocals i guess. i believe this album doesnt use autotune like others does.:ladyhaha::awkney: this made me love Joanne more.

OK there's raw and then there's flat - why would anyone want to listen to something that's off-key?

I've played it to musical people who've said the 'i' in American is completely off (I for one am a Grade 8 pianist and saxophonist)

Do these musical people make sound if they bump together or do you have to blow?

Interesting. I've been a songwriter/singer/performer for 10 years myself, and I just can't judge that one note negatively. There are other issues on the album, vocally and musically, but that's not one that stands out to me.

I dont think people will notice it and if they did its not a big deal unless you're a music critic or something. I mean its a great album.

It definitely definitely is.

It definitely definitely is not. She bends into and out of the pitch, hitting in the center of the duration of the tone's length. Not a hint of what one might, amateurishly, even refer to as "pitchiness." She approaches, hits, and then exits the tone. Technically, it would be a microtonal glissando.

I guess I just don't get the selective hearing :shrug:  It's like, an incredibly short note that is not noticably out of tune compared to other moments on the record... If I sat down and listened really, I'd wager it's not even the most out of tune note in the entire song.

Why pick this one? :emma:

I, for one, am a person without any musical training or any musical knowledge, and I don't hear a difference. Just like most people wouldn't.

"Musical people"? What is that a course?

I looked at Diamond Heart in my spectrogram and whatever key the instrumental is in, it comprises of the following notes:

C, C#, D#, F, G, G#, and A#.

The "i" in American at 2:02 is sung as an F#, which is none of those notes... so yes, it's technically off-key.

Spoiler

The spectrogram never lies. :emma::oprah::diane::madge::ladyhaha:
