A second-half album

I think one way to fix this is replace Sinner's Prayer with Grigio Girls, rearrange A-YO, John Wayne, and Dancin in Circles to some time later in the album, or to simply make the album a lot shorter along the lines of something like The Fame Monster

IDK, it just feels to me that Joanne is two separate bodies hastily melded into one; the first part (Diamond Heart to Million Reasons) has a very Western vibe that Sinner's Prayer tries to continue, but fails as Come to Mama to Angel Down has an entirely different sound and feel without any proper transition from the first part. That, in itself, makes the album feel somewhat disjointed and our minds are left to wonder what those missing pieces are lost in the sudden transition Million Reasons and Sinner's Prayer are supposed to make

I feel even ARTPOP has better flow but that can be attributed to longer and more abundant songs which Joanne lacks. Is it for the better? I appreciate the shortness of Joanne, but each song individually is so strong and independent which I feel may be a reason as to why the album may feel somewhat weird starting around Perfect Illusion and ultimately by Sinner's Prayer. Yet Joanne's brevity allows showcases each song's stronger aesthetics and lyrics, and each song can stand on its own without the help of another, something that much of ARTPOP, and even some of Born This Way and The Fame, cannot do

 

Did not mean for this to turn into a review, though. Just never realized how I actually felt about Joanne until I began writing this response :lana:

I agree ESPECIALLY with the bolded. I think it's too much to throw John Wayne and Dancin' in Circles right next to each other. It's two songs filled with adrenaline.

I would have switched John Wayne and Sinner's Prayer. But that's just me.
