★★★☆☆
Here is Lady Gaga with her latest persona — herself — but from someone who has spent much of her life on stage, the supposedly real Gaga is less convincing than the theatrical one. Gone are the meat dresses and lobster hats of the glory years, to be replaced by cut-off denims and T-shirts.

Where once Gaga presented herself as the ultimate gay icon on electro-disco smashes such as Born This Way and Bad Romance, now she’s dreaming about meeting a real blue-collar guy on the pop-country banger John Wayne and evoking the spirit of Carly Simon on Joanne, a…

Grigio Gays

I have a feeling like her image is what really put people off this era.

She stripped herself down at the wrong time. I'm pretty sure people would react differently to this album if her looks were still somewhat outlandish. It would have been less apparent that she's doing a "i'm a real musician" shtick now.

It seems our girl really can't do any good in the eyes of some people. Give them ARTPOP and it's too weird and try hard, give them Joanne and it's not weird enough but, not convincing but still too try hard?

The way I see it with Gaga is that many people will always make their mind up about her before they REALLY hear the music

Judas Oyster

Lol at the URL. Bowie reincarnated as Gaga 😂

I can't be bothered to register to be able to read the review. The readable part seems fair tbh.

The whole "gay icon electronic disco" thing is so offensive. Like you can't be a gay icon and change up the look or sound? Superficial to me I suppose. It's what comes from the inside that counts.

she's still the "ultimate gay icon" also to shove every gay guy into a box that we only love disco pop electro sh*t is rude.
