Right, which is more of a reason for why Gaga should've just let this one be. His meaningless drivel shouldn't have affected her. I hope it didn't get to her too much.

It affects JOANNE metascore.

I'm glad she is standing by her work.

Came her to say this as well. Nobody should let someone trash their hard work and just take it. They were tearing apart Joanne and ARTPOP in the same article. It make sme proud that she said something to defend her art. Id like to see whoever wrote that article to write a hit song or an entire album.

To respond to a negative review by invoking the name of Trayvon Martin is beyond tacky.

I think she was offended by "fishing for Inspiration" headline, since the songs (like Angel Down) deal with something important to her and serious.

Thanks Joel, I just mixed up those two reviews, NYT didn't even mention Angel Down. But I guess she didn't like the "fishing for inspiration " comment.

She's protecting her work.

She has all the rights to do that.

And that review is so poor that NY should be ashamed of hiring someone uneducated to write reviews about music. Because in that review everything is about her stunts, social media and so little about music.

This.

I live outside the space time continuum.

The song doesn't explicitly reference Trayvon or BLM, no critic would know what that song is about. Telling the world what that song is about as a response to a negative review is tacky.

SpadesToStart

I am living for JoanneGa on Twitter.  She is proud of her work, and not afraid to call people on their bullshit this era.

Did anyone think it was about Trayvon Martin? I honestly did not have any specific incidents in mind while listening to Angel Down. I just thought it was about how ugly the world can be tbh.

Honestly when I first listened to the song, three incidences came in mind, the Aleppo child sitting quietly in the ambulance, the Orlando Pulse Shooting, and then video footage of a black mother crying because her son died and no one was holding her. I'm not sure if it was Trayvon's mom or not but it certainly came to mind with the lyrics "and the people just stood around".

i really hope she doesnt address every negative review... it looks kinda pathetic imo

Not sure how that even qualified as a "review." There's a difference between a negative review and a straight-up lack of integrity for your journalism.

So many fans made the connection from the lyrics that it's about the current violence and shootings, it's not that hard to understand.

The fan who is also very close to her, just yesterday posted this on Twitter

And we were discussing about it here.

This is her way of confirming it's true, about the inspiration and same time dragging the "fishing for inspiration" headline.
