Oh my god, it's too early on for me to choose my favorite but it is such an iconic gaga song, one of her bests! I can't believe it wasn't chosen as the lead! This is exactly what everyone was wanting. Although, I'm glad she saved it so I got to listen to it for the first time during my first listen. This song just screams summer, so I'm sure if she'd released the lead sometime in July/August it would have been the lead. They way she describes how she's going to work hard and dream big bc one day she's gonna go out there and be whoever she wants to be. It's the perfect first song for the tour, too!! Given the fact there are no news about the second single, I am starting to worry that we will have maximum 3 singles as we had during the ARTPOP era, if not less. I always liked this song, but took issue with some of the vocal bits (mostly her lower range in the pre-chorus sections). But the song really grew on me, and the way it builds up to the chorus is so incredible. Such a beautifully crafted song. Now I totally get why people think this is one of her best. She's always saying that her dad was very severe as she was growing up (due to Joanne'd death). I think in the whole song she's just telling her dad "ok you may not agree with everything I do but this is what I want to do, I have to go through some dirty things but remember that I'm a good girl and still need your support as a dad". Overall, I really like the one, not my favorite one but it's a great beginning, as in all of her albums. This instrumental, and this voice in the beginning, it's everything. The only thing I don't like is the instrumental in the chorus when she sings "Young wild american...". Too dance, simple instruments would have been just great.
