Himeros26 1,688
Okay as much as I love Bey, and I think she's a great entertainer, she lip syncs. Not a Britney type of lip sync, she pre records a live track for certain songs. Only the beginning and end of her VMA Lemonade performance were actually sung. She gives herself away whenever she's breathing one second and not breathing the next. And also whenever she points the mic at the crowd and you can't hear them, her mic isn't on lol. But she is an A1 entertainer
StrawberryBlond 14,862
Disagree. She's good, but not the best. I'll explain why below. But to be honest, I don't know why Beyonce's considered the best at anything really. Her music is so average for the most part, so that cancels out how well she can sing and dance, in my opinion. On 16/10/2016 at 7:50 PM, Harry said: Well I do agree. She puts in so much effort into that part of her career and it shows. Few even come close. It's understandable why it's not to some's personal taste, however. Some people don't value choreography and the "spectacle" of it all, some would prefer to watch virtuoso instrumentalists. But she's certainly the best at what she does, and better than any other current pop star. I'd be interested to see who people here think is better. I can definitely appreciate choreography and spectacle - I like Gaga's shows, after all. And while I like rock music, playing an instrument is not necessary to a great live performance, although it can help considerably. But I could never get into the idea of Beyonce as the best live performer because to me, she has no heart and soul in her live singing. She's so distanced from her audience, just shouting out cliche phrases that live singers have used for years ("How are y'all doing tonight?, How are you beautiful people feeling?" "I wanna see everybody on their feet" etc). There's no evidence that she cares one iota about her audience. When singers who were performing in France post-Nice attacks were bringing up the situation in a spoken segment of the show and calling for peace, Beyonce didn't say a cheep about it when she performed in Paris. Despite Paris supposedly being so close to her and her husband's heart. She was actually criticised by one French critic for saying nothing about it, actually. Part of the beauty of watching someone live is that there's an un-rehearsed feeling to it, they might decide to do something unexpected. Not at a Beyonce show - everything is run like a Swiss watch. A live show also has the air of imperfectionism to it. But that's honest, that's real, in the moment, it sounds good. Beyonce's incessant need to be perfect live is what puts me off. I'm not interested in watching a live show that sounds exactly like the recorded album. I think live singing is about being raw, honest, real. Beyonce is too perfect and polished. Even when she's supposed to be being all honest and emotional, it still feels like it's all a carefully constructed act. She's too focused on looking perfect and is against "ugly" singing, which explains why she wanted those Superbowl pictures of her removed because they looked so unflattering and destroyed her image of perfection. I also think she has a bad habit of shouting her lyrics instead of singing them and like many people have said, she just repeats the same performance ideas over and over. If you're going to be the kind of performer that dances and puts on a spectacle, I want to see more variety in every possible way. The only times I've been really moved by a live Beyonce performance was 1+1 on American Idol and Ave Maria at the I Am... show. And as far as duets go, the Alexandra duet on X Factor. Those were the real times when she seemed to show true authenticity. Other than that, she just doesn't thrill me live.

And I see all the issues that I complained about with very few exceptions. I forget to add in her Freedom performance at the VMAs too - that was also really good and also where she seemed to genuinely let go. I will admit that she does have incredible star quality and I'm sure I would be starstruck in her presence, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be bored by her tours. She strikes me too much as a queen performing to peasants. I've heard from people who have gone to see her live and they've said that she just does the same thing over and over and doesn't connect with her audience. I suppose I'd rather pay to watch her live as opposed to Rihanna, Katy or Britney, but then, they have more songs that I like, so it's a toss-up between good songs vs. good performance. Basically, I only want to see people live who can provide good songs and a good voice and Beyonce can only give me one of those.

Branflakes 137
Not saying she's bad by a long shot but she bores me, she's been doing the same routine for like a decade now... The music may change over the years but it's the same old gag... but that's probably why she's so successful still XD

Don't know if you're being sarcastic or what but if you genuinely accept my opinion, then good. But if you want to see examples of singers I think who are better live than Beyonce, other than Gaga of course, I'd recommend Halestorm, lead singer Lzzy Hale fronts it and she's one of the best female rock vocalists around right now. Check out their live performances of Freak Like Me, I Get Off, Familiar Taste Of Poison and I Like It Heavy for proof.
