Scared for Joanne

Ehh, I think she knows what she's doing, or at least she knows what to expect.

She'd definitely be much more gung-ho with promotion if she truly honestly wanted to secure a #1 album. But, at this point, I am honestly getting "let the music speak for itself" vibes, which is totally fine.

And if it doesn't debut at #1? Totally fine.

3 points in and ready for more

I honestly don't even care lmao.

It feels good to be free from having to 'worry' about an artist's commercial performance.

Girl, as we already know, Joanne is gonna debut with low numbers. That's something we can count on happening. BUT, think about it this way. Gaga is going to make headline after headline over having super low first week sales, just like ARTPOP, only this time, the GP will be here for the album. And when you put it that way, she's going to get so much more recognition, and more people will go, "Oh, I didn't even know she had an album out." But unlike with ARTPOP, if Joanne is indeed a masterpiece like it ****ing SHOULD BE, then the album will sell steadily just like The Fame, week after week.

Not sure if this made sense entirely, but hopefully you get my gist.

The only hate, and doom & gloom that i've seen about Joanne is all from LM's. We are not in 2013 anymore, PI have failed a lot worse than applause, A LOT and the world have keep spinning, and the flop has barely been covered by the media.

Put so much effort on being scared to be dragged by other fanbases is not something that a fan should do.

This was her last Interscope album anyways. They can keep her or she will drop off and make her own record label. She has enough money and reputation.

Besides, she just bought the former house of Franck Zappa which includes a complete recording studio. As we don't actually know the terms of her renewed contract with Interscope, some hypothetical scenarios are possible, may be Gaga is playing her cards differently this time around for the future. This will be interesting to follow.

I wouldn't be surprised if it debuts less than Glory at this point. I think her and her team expected PI to smash and carry on to the album, which was a bad assumption that no one should ever make about their lead single. Plan to promote no matter what.

If it was an album full of songs designed to be on top of the charts and being played on the radio nonstop then you could be worried. But none of the songs on Joanne try to be a "bop" or a "club banger" and it is obvious that Gaga does not try to have that kind of fame with this album, she wants to be remembered as a musical legend and if people still don't understand that after all the interviews of this era, I'm gonna puke.

ps: Joanne is not country!

Well, thats what she gets for not promoting + not doing gp friendly songs. I like the snippets so far and thats the only thing that matters. Probably gonna log out when the album is released. A LOT of meltdowns are comin:neyde:g

I'm glad.  Gaga's doing what she wants and not pandering to the gp.

I live outside the space time continuum.

In 20 years - would people talk about chart success or would they sing the songs?

Y'all are too much. Why do you honestly care so much about char positions and money and promo? This woman is worth more money than most of us will ever come close to. She doesn't need to pander to the gp to make money, and she really never has. She's always rebelled against being a puppet for the music industry, and if y'all have not noticed that in the 8 years she's been around, then idk where you have been. Get over it. She will probably never be as commercially famous as she used to be, but if it doesn't matter to her, why does it matter to you? It literally has nothing to do with you.

I think Gaga sees the writing on the wall, that this album isn't made for the radio, and isn't going to put in the work to get a #5. If she try's and fails it will look worse.

It is nice to see one of your favorite artists perform well, but just don't think about it from a normal "pop-artist" perspective. Gaga is not your average pop star.  She goes to the beat of her own drum so to speak.

As a real musician/artist, she doesn't care about charts. Look at some of the phenomenal artists working with her.. You think Beck cares about how his albums chart? nah!

Worrying about chart performance rather than quality is silly :p. Save that for pop stars that have other people write albums for them.

I like that she isn't over hyping anything or trying to be top 40. Then again.. I do not listen to much top 40 pop music at all.
