Yes, but having leaks make it easier for them to download. Hell, if they hate it and heard it before hand, the premature criticisms could even hurt future sales once the album actually drops

Well, once the record is out, so are the download links... lol Download links don't magically disappear once the record is officially released, I would even say they logically multiply. Like I said, if someone wants to illegally download something, they just will.

As for premature criticisms, you know... If people want to kill an album or a film, they will do so no matter what, probably even before actually experiencing the thing. Sometimes, things aren't so complicated. In the end, if people like the music, they'll buy it - it's as simple as that.

Taylor has a different fan base! Adults and teens buy her records. I don't know anyone over 30 buying lady Gaga records...

Most teens and adults are too stupid to figure out how to find leaked **** lol

I buy records lol... not interested in the illegal downloading. People like that make me sick to be honest!

Thank God there are still people like you and me, otherwise the music industry would be dead.

I wish there were no streaming sites! That kill the industry market more then you think

True, but in the end, nobody in the industry likes or wants streaming... This is just a band-aid to limit the appeal and the losses caused by illegal downloading.

Yeah but what about non-fans  who would have bought the album had it not leaked?tumblr_lzj4r82E891qevzsm.gif

In this day and age, it is impossible to expect that an album from a huge star like Gaga wouldn't leak. That's just the way it is. If they like it, there's a chance they'll buy it as well.

Yes but you keep ignoring the fact that not all members of the population are decided if they will listen to leaks or not. Some wait for reviews or popular trends before checking it out themselves. If they catch wind of negative crap from the leaks they wouldn't even bother to check it.

But the fact the music leaks or not is irrelevant: like I said, if people want to write crap about a record, they'll do it before or after the release.

I never did once say that. The whole point of my question has to do with illegal downloads before the actual official release. Of course illegal links would appear after the album drops.

expecting =/= wanting

Sure, I know there is always a chance it will leak, but some monsters seem intent on grabbing hold of a copy before hand and leaking them which is what makes me question why?

For praise of the fanbase?

What about non-fans who listen to the leaks of every other artist and if the music catches their ear they wind up following the artist and become a fan and support him/her financially. It's an opportunity for people who don't care that to buy Gagas stuff. I think this album is her most GP friendly. Literally it has a sound for everyone. Even with the short snippets we've heard, we can tell that much of this album is diverse sonically

Then I don't get your question. I really think that the only people that are focusing on leaks are stans, and stans are hardly enough for a record to be a smash. What really makes an album a smash is when people who wouldn't usually invest in an artist suddenly do, and this happens through radio, promo, exposure. The general public doesn't care about leaks, and hardly even knows about them. Anyway, those were my 2 cents on the issue.

From what I've read here, none of us actually want to have the album to leak it. We want to hear it.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread just today about asking friends working on Target and other music stores to see if they can get the CDs early and people asking to leak them =
