What the Joanne era has taught me so far

You know I was thinking last night about how much I've taken things for granted lately. I cancelled dinner plans with my grandma to go to a work party to try and suck up to my boss to get that damn promotion. I let my little sisters phone call go to voicemail because I felt that that work meeting was more important. I cancelled my weekly hangout time with my neices and nephew because I was swamped at work. I didn't visit my oldest sister in the hospital when my latest nephew was born because I had a work function. This era has made me realize that yeah work is important but it's not more important than dinner with my grandma because let's be real she won't be here much longer. It's not more important than taking that call from my little sister. She means the world to me even though 99% of the time she's just calling for money lol. It's not more important than hanging out with my neices and nephew because they're growing up fast and it'll be gone in the blink of an eye. It's not more important than spending time snuggling my new nephew because he is my oldest sisters last baby and I wanna cherish these newborn days as much as possible. All of the time spent climbing the ladder at work won't mean **** when my grandma is gone, my little sister is married with babies of her own, and my neices and nephews are all grown. Time flies in the blink of an eye

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

If your job is necessary for you to live, then don't feel ashamed about it. Make time when you can. Outline when you have free time (or at least when you usually do, as an estimate) to your family and if they can't make a time then that's not your problem. Family might be of the utmost importance in life, but work is keeping you alive.

Spend time with them as soon as possible, but balance your work life too. That's part of being an adult, you know? Lots of balance.

I disagree. Your job should be the most important part of your life until you achieve your goal. Your family have each other and are not your responsibility until it's your own children.

I made a similar mistake putting others first. I've regretted it for 6 years so far.

You cant just have it all... Theres just one of you. At the end of the day your work is more importantant. If youre a busy guy why not send letters/flowers/gifts instead just to show them that you still care.

Rock N Roll B*tches!
