I can't with everyone thinking MR will be successful :awkney:

It will be GUY2.0.

Book. Mark. Me.

definitely... MR is a nice album track, and it should stay that way... especially with so much stronger material on the album

So basically PI? lol

Basically BUT something that isn't released atm. Give her a second chance.

Okay but it did peak at #15 at one point so we can still pass that off as a hit  including the fact that we're hearing "everywhere" :nails: but then this will be her first album to not have a top ten (excluding Jazz 2 Jazz)

It debuted at 15 and then fell into oblivion, it was a flop.

literally one of the biggest flops in the history of lead singles by a major artist

Very true. And folk saying because it's not mainstream it didn't do well, well I don't think that's true. Here in the UK indie, rock and soul do well and will chart at the top spot at various times throughout  the year.

not really sure, because she has so many quality songs on the new album that are better than PI and would at least do equally good/bad as the lead...

And you're making it sounds like it's so black and white.... a simple bop or something like PI.... it could have been a successful quality song.

Please see the bolded text for comments where you are being equally as black and white. No shade, just pointing it out. hats-off-salute-smiley-emoticon.gif

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think PI fits the bill of a "first single" more than anything else I've heard from the snippets. I think anything else she could have released as the lead would have left this forum in even bigger meltdown mode than PI (people are just playing Monday morning quarterback --- based on snippets --- now that they see PI did not take off).

Honestly ask yourself, if something else had been the lead, then you heard just a 30-sec snippet of PI from the Amazon Echo leak, don't you think half the folks on here would be going "WHYYYYY wasn't that the lead?! OMG!"

I don't mean to be negative, but I am fully prepared for zero hits from 'Joanne' (and I think Gaga is, too).

MR is an obvious smash.

It's not going to smash, the only chance she has of getting a hit this era is to promote one around the Superbowl. :awkney:

KaanBTW

I love and listen PI but I believe it was very week for a lead single.

     - The message was meh comparing to BR or BTW.

     - Performances which we had few were nothing special (Both vocally and visually)

     - Video was ok

     - Promo was terrible.

     - Fashion was moderate (love tank top, boobs and pony tail thing)

As a result, not many people was aware of the song and it wasn't an event.

Everything keeps going on about the SB. No one watches that apart from within the USA.

It is the single biggest promotional spot in America. I don't understand why you're brushing it off as just another gig. This is the biggest performance of her career.

Why though? MR sounds very radio friendly to me.

Actually this may not be so bad... even if it barely cracks the top 20 its the kind of song that earns great respect and may even help album sales

and since shes doing superbowl, its ok if 2nd single success is mediocre. She can release a more dancy song for 3rd single just in time for superbowl

Also Gaga never tried anything like that exept for you and I and her immage was awful back then at its worst point so for it to make it to #8 wasnt even bad!

Sis, PI is a month old, and the Super Bowl is still 4 months away. Million Reasons ain't gunna last that long.
