shoful 13,304
Does anyone else think that Joanne/LG5 was really hard for Gaga to write? I feel like after ARTPOP backlash she completely lost herself. I feel like she was really struggling to write in 2014-early2016. It was only until Mark Ronson kind of came along that she was able to produce a presentable product. Hence why Redone stuff was mostly scrapped. "My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..." later 135
I feel that too. I feel. I feel that after the ARTPOP backlash, she went insane, and suffered severe carpal tunnel syndrome. I see disturbing images of her thrashing about, in excruciating agony, trying to reconcile herself with the $50,000,000 she deposited in her bank account during the ARTPOP fiasco. I think she went mental. Bonkers.
Dorothy Gale 7,575
I have a feeling she had writers block until 2016, and then ideas started flowing.

Give us the date of the beginning of her writer's block. You know, the one that lasted until 2016.
zakariah 11,718
I think when she was with RedOne, LG5 was abt making hit records, then suddenly the idea of JOANNE came abt with Mark etc, & she just went along with that instead

mee 381
I hope she stops with the antidepressants. These medication drugs works like placebos, when you believe it helps, it helps. But long term... i don't know... What really helps is your believe that your love for yourself, your family and your creativity helps you and keeps you alive. That you heal when you transform your pain into music and visuals, that's what people artists should do. And it's also important to lover the pain, it only shows that you are a human and alive. Antidepressants can help you to stabalize for a short time. But our realities and so our universes are in our minds and so in our feelings. Change your thoughts, your emotions will change and so your reality. Antidepressants are like blockers. If you can feel the sun, the bird, the rain, smile of your little sister, mom and your freinds or the tears of a human - when you are just the moment, then you are healthy - but you have to practice that. Gaga seems happier than ever, I highly doubt she's still on antidepressants. That being said, what do they have to do with writing Joanne? Antidepressants' effect is different on anybody. You cannot simply say she was unable to write 'til she met Mark (which is still very unlikely imo) just because she couldn't be inspired to write due antidepressants.. Quartz 12,535
I actually think ARTPOP was the hardest one to create because we had such high expectations and people were abandoning her left and right. For Joanne, she's much more free. More free than when she wrote The Fame even because she has the power to do what she wants with this record and without the expectations because of ARTPOP's performance. She's so much more comfortable when writing Joanne and I strongly feel that this will be her most genuine and inspired record. This will be the true music not the bling. Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
heavymetall0v3r 910
The Fame was basically totally left to her freedom to write. TFM was also mostly left to GaGa to write with her choice of writers. BTW was where GaGa wrote the album and polarised her executives. They decided to see how it would go and make the ARTPOP album, giving her freedom dependant on BTWs success, but weren't satisfied. GaGa started writing ARTPOP but along the lines got told to be more commercially relevant in her music and use more writers. Also she had mass writers block (hence using instrumentals, four chord songs and dozens of writers). Not to mention ARTPOP was nothing like we thought it would be (even though it's probably for the best - how can you put a song like Ratchet or Red Flame in an album called ARTPOP. It was a tricky concept and I personally think GaGa just wanted to use the title so badly.) So since then she's been letting herself grow organically and told executives she out of the rat race for popularity. How do I know? Because I'm Jimmy Iovine! The angriest twink on GagaDaily. She has the talent to write songs even on busy schedule. What she lacks is confidence. She doesn't want the same backlash as ARTPOP, it was hurtful and she admitted that. She made 8 songs with RedOne, very probable that she already had a concept back then. But she doesn't feel confident enough till she met Mark Ronson again, that she wanted to work with since 10years ago. It make sense for her to scrap all the project with RedOne and start all over again. The producer is what she adores to, and it gave her confidence.
