Hillary's Wall Street speeches partly revealed

Wikileaks has put out some excerpts from Hillary Clinton's highly-paid speeches to Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs, as found in hacked staff email. These are the speeches that Bernie called for her to release during the primaries, which she refused to do. The email highlights some "problem" passages, though most of them are problematic more for their potential to be spun into soundbites than their actual content. One fairly decent summary:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2016/10/07/wikileaks_releases_excerpts_of_hillary_clinton_s_wall_street_speeches.html

For example, in one widely-cited passage, she says “My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere.” The article I linked above classifies that under "Remarks That Could Play Terribly Now", but I'd defend it, at least as it stands here. See, the basic problem with free trade is the lack of uniform labor and environmental standards across countries, resulting in a race to the bottom. But if we had the same, solid standards everywhere? Then of course, free trade would be beneficial, in that ideal, dream situation.

I hope they leak completely. I've been wanting to see the content of her speeches since the primaries.

Also, "open borders" .... that will be used to attack her. Republicans already say she wants open borders and now they have something to use :rip:

Will this deeply affect her like what is happening to Trump?

Doubt it.

All it really does is confirm what we all knew anyway.

“If everybody’s watching, you know, all of the back room discussions and the deals, you know, then people get a little nervous, to say the least,” said Clinton. “So, you need both a public and a private position.”

While some transparency would be nice, I think most people know what Clinton's private positions are. She is center-right and a deeply rooted corporatist.

Not only are they just kind of obvious revelations, but she was also kinda paid to say these things as well, albeit by a different group of people and for a different audience. So.

How does this compare to saying "I can grab her p*ssy and she'll let me because I'm a celebrity and I can do anything" ???

It's not a scandal when Hillary Clinton said what she thinks about things.

This election is getting tiring. I want to punch people when they say **** like, "Hillary seems too prepared." I guess the last thing they want in a president is logical thinking and preparation.

fox news just said this makes her economically look like the republican in the race when compared to trump :laughga:

this could work to her favor and make republicans more comfortable with jumping ship

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

It was trending on Facebook with over a million people talking about it compared to only 20k that were talking about Trump..so, yes. However, it would have made much more of an impact during the primary. Whatever though. Both our candidates are crap.
