Nemo 4,410 Posted October 8, 2016 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Wikileaks has put out some excerpts from Hillary Clinton's highly-paid speeches to Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs, as found in hacked staff email. These are the speeches that Bernie called for her to release during the primaries, which she refused to do. The email highlights some "problem" passages, though most of them are problematic more for their potential to be spun into soundbites than their actual content. One fairly decent summary: http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2016/10/07/wikileaks_releases_excerpts_of_hillary_clinton_s_wall_street_speeches.html For example, in one widely-cited passage, she says “My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere.” The article I linked above classifies that under "Remarks That Could Play Terribly Now", but I'd defend it, at least as it stands here. See, the basic problem with free trade is the lack of uniform labor and environmental standards across countries, resulting in a race to the bottom. I want to punch people when they say **** like, "Hillary seems too prepared." I guess the last thing they want in a president is logical thinking and preparation. It was trending on Facebook with over a million people talking about it compared to only 20k that were talking about Trump..so, yes.
