FGGrayson 9,670
Im just reaching but ... NOT TALKING SUCCES WISE, MANDY MOORE never was a thing but... Both aries, both started as pop artists and eventually changed to other sounds, them sales in music decreased each era lower and lower while both earned critic acclaim a thing them biggest rivals never could (Britney/Kety), both huge fans & friends of Elton & both worked with him while them rivals worked with Madge (Kety/Britney) see more details era x era: Back then in 1999 along with Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera (Katy Perry/Tayor) there was another pop girl who was tagged as a 'Britney clon' (while Lady Gaga always was the Madonna clon), Candy ha first single was released early than BOMT but it took ages to hit, by the time it did, BOMT was already out slaying lifes. (JD taking ages to be a hit, IKAG already slaying) She made her debut with the album So Real and few months later they re-released the album with the name of I Wanna Be With You (ala TF | TFM) they kept almost all songs from the debut & added a few new songs on it... after this double era, she went to record her next album Mandy Moore which it did better with critics and it's a fan fave (BTW).. she introduced a new sound & played with pop and even when the album was better than the competition, Britney destroyed her with Im A Slave For You (5 #1 from TD era) Spoiler "AllMusic was very positive in its review, stating, "Mandy Moore manages to pack more hooks, melody, beats, clever production flourishes, and fun into its 13 tracks than nearly all of its peers – remarkably, it's a stronger album, through and through, than either of Britney's first two albums or Christina's record...immaculately crafted, precisely polished, & exactly what a teen pop album should be." Rolling Stone also gave the album praise, commenting, "It's so rare and refreshing when a teen star takes the high road...[Mandy's] CD offers the most startlingly liberated teen pop since Eighties mall-rat icon Tiffany euphemistically declared herself 'New Inside'." Slant Magazine noted that "Mandy Moore is a refreshingly modest pop/rock excursion that gives Moore the opportunity to differentiate herself from the competition and further solidifies a promising musical future." It was given an honorable mention in the magazine's top music picks of 2001.[19] The album was chosen as one of Amazon.com's Best of 2001. ...by that time, she was dating Andy Roddick, she turned against the fame and made some declarations about how she was over with the media & her shallows news, she starts to going more private & keept her privacy to her own and starts to have a low profile, also she then was doing some major changes, she was going from music to movies, she had her biggest role in "A Walk to Remember" where she was praised af (Gaga's AHS), ... she was already knew from other film/tv projects as a host of ATRL & The Princess Diaries (Gaga's Machete Kills/Sin City) 4th era: Mandy Moore starts to get rebellious againts her label and scrapped the ideas and demos she had & everything she worked for her next album, and she did then release an album, full of covers from the 70's 80's (goes pop-rock, folk-rock), by that time she almost lost all of her fandom because of that change, but she did start to gain some critic acclaim and did well with older ppl and do kinda well in charts like Adult contemporary & **** like that (Gaga'z ARTPOP meltdown/C2C era) She parted ways with Epic (Gagz having a new contract w/Interscope) and went full indie to a small label (which already doesn't exist, which makes it impossible to buy/stream this record) so she recorded WILD HOPE with respected folk singers Rachael Yamagata, Lori McKenna and indie pop-folk duo The Weepies (did u heard Mark Ronson, Tame Impala & that country guy?) succes wise the album didnt do that well, but she managed to gain respect from critics I.E. : Jane Magazine said that "Moore has turned into a sophisticated songwriter whose new sound fits cozily alongside that of Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple and Sarah McLachlan rather than all the pop tarts she used to be compared to." (Is this was ha Joanne era?)... ......... She then released her last album to date (2009) AMANDA LEIGH which is fully folk-rock, folk, folk-pop, her album with her highest Metacritic score and so different from who she was at the start, by this time she already almost never promoted her music, she was a full indie act and was more involved in films/movies than actual music (rn she have more credits on movies/tv than music), which reminds me Gagz project: A New Star Is Born & AHS.. Both are good at live performances, while Britney never could sing live & Xtina overused her vocals, Mandy Moore had an average/good voice, always going underrated and surpising people, ala Gagz, while Katy's live sucks Gagz have a great voice and surprised people when she did some good live performances. IM SHOOK!! Thoughs @ReidOne Some of ha folk music, putting the most pop/easy to listen bops: Spoiler 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗴𝗮 • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗲 • 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗲-𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗼𝗿 • 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻

Glamourpuss 29,062
I think its all coincidental. But you put across some very interesting points. It's cool how they have had similar career paths yet both succeeded with completely different results.
