She's a visionnary, a pop artist who tries different things and innovates, just like Madonna. Hate the comparison or not, but Madonna had pop eras that didn't sound like typical pop eras. For example, American Life (the album) sounds very acoustic, almost every song has an acoustic guitar which drives the whole song. Just like which album ? Joanne, exactly ! Gaga didn't give up on pop, she's just chosing a new path for this album, it's ok, she can try if it's what she feels is right at the moment. However, I understand monsters disappointed that electronic elements seem to have been completely erased, it's her signature sound, but she has the right to move on. It may not be your taste, I understand, but it doesn't mean in any way that the album is bad, when she actually served the best ballad in her discography, "Million Reasons".
