I love the snippets better than the two released songs. The music is good but her singing is not. She really needs to learn to use her voice better because it ruins the songs and the intentions sometimes less is better. I think Lady Gaga has been told too many times she had a great voice, yes it's powerful and it works with dance pop but on a more intimate production it's grating and irritating. It's not because you scream that it brings soul to the song. I wish somebody would help her find her voice, usually that's the job of the producer but it seems like Ronson and al let her go free wheel. It's a shame because the snippets are good but after listening to them all back to back her voice tired my ears. Hoping that she'll tone down live to make the song live to their full potential.

I know what you mean, I think it's more to do with the contrast in the voice, often it stays the same for the duration of the song (see PI). An expert at adding contrast in her voice was Whitney Houston, I think maybe gaga could learn a little from her but honestly I don't see much of a problem.

Wtf there were so much better first single choices though. PI sounds so out of place. Mess if this song disrupt the cohesion of the album (have to listen to the full songs to see if that's gonna happen).

Wait. I take back what I said. PI sounds louder than the other songs but it does fit the album. I think it is what link Joanne to her previous albums. I'm loving it even more now. I even think it is a good first single choice. I bet if they had chosen another song and it had underperformed, some people would be saying PI was a better first single choice. Its chorus is amazing. I think the main reason it didn't enter top ten is the lack of promotion on television.

Geez I'm gonna love this album!!!!!

Didn't like anything. Jesus. I'm canceling my order. Even the Kaiser Chiefs new album is way more PPo than Joanne. Red and Blue era is back.

No, definitely not! In my opinion the tracks she sang in Nashville are the ones with the most "country" influence. I can hear just a little in Diamond Hearts too. But that's it really, from the snippets at least. The rest corresponds to the definitions we've had in the past: it's a very organic-sounding kind of pop, imo. We can also hear clear influences from Bowie and Elton John in a few songs, especially the second half of the album.

Oh my god.

these snippets made my hype increase x1000, and that seemed impossible.

Hello next singles aka Diamond Heart, John Wayne, A-YO, Dancing in Circles.

This is so ****ing good. The quality on production, vocals, the music, the lyrics, my ****ing god. I don't even know what to say.

Not only Whitney but Carole King and all the great country singers learn restrain which makes the song more powerful because you can feel they are restraining so it adds to the poignancy. Some of the snippets start good, she's taking us on a journey then she starts screaming like she's in pain, it's too affected. Maybe it's due to the quality of the snippets but it's already like this on PI and MR, the producers pushed her voice way too much to the front in the mix so it sounds like she's screaming on a backtrack instead of a song. These songs would work better on her lower register because they are intimate. She should stop thinking she needs to prove anything with her voice. We know it's good and strong and she should know it too, i'm afraid if she sings these tracks live by pushing her voice like on the record she's gonna ruin her vocal chords. She should get a gospel singer as a teacher to teach her how to project without pushing.

I don't think she doesn't know how to do it, because in jazz it's fine.
