juju 18,907
As annoying as it is, people have a right to disagree with the current material if they please. It is a little ridiculous in all honesty, and awfully redundant, to bicker about an artist known for reinvention; but alas, those of us that do enjoy it shouldn't allow them to rain on our parade. As a die-hard, an indie-folk glam-rock album is what I've always wanted from her since the very first time I heard No Floods. So there's no way any naysayer will steal my thunder tbh. This era is so lit, and I'm ready for each big #moment that it brings. ❤ x ❤
Sylvanas 5,768
At this point I find it hilarious because the songs are so objectively good to me. Like there is no way I could dislike these songs. They're exactly what I want, from any artist, and especially from my fav! The meltdowns cannot sway my opinion after last night, so now they're just entertaining! We haven't heard anything about the potential Moroder/Rodgers + RedOne funk album, since like the end of 2015, when she caught up with Mark Ronson. We've known that the album changed directions. RedOne said he was supposed to have his single out in February, and he didn't know what happened with his material. We've known Mark Ronson was the executive producer for a few months now, at the least (and it was speculated for almost a year). And we've also known about Kevin Parker, Hillary Lindsey, Father John Misty, BloodPop, and Beck's involvement for at least 3 months now. Every Gaga album we learn who the producers are ahead of time. With ARTPOP, she was working with DJ White Shadow, Zedd, and Madeon. And so, in 2012, I looked up all of their music. It was off-putting at first but the hard EDM/Trap sound really grew on me, and by the time their work with Gaga came out I knew what to expect. The same with this album. I started getting into Amy Winehouse's music once Ronson came on board. I looked into Father John Misty's latest album, which is very folk/acoustic. I looked into Hillary Lindsey's hit singles, which are all country pop. I learned what this album would sound like. There is no rug being pulled out from under you. It's more like you closed your eyes in front of an oncoming train, and then you were shocked when it hit you. A lot of us have seen this change coming for years now. I'm talking about her pop career before this, leading up to this new direction; not the original RedOne album. Nothing pointed to her doing country; I like Amy Winehouse. Classic rock. Etc. You and I is fantastic, so is Carrie Underwood. But such a full change is odd for some of us.
Vergil 2,296
Yes, the best option is unstaning which I'll do. Monster since March 2010, Gaga has been my life since then & I'll never forget what she has done for me but that person is now gone. If only she had the same ideals and personality I would not care about a good or a bad album. Joanne isn't the reason of my unstaning, it's because of the things she has been saying through 2016. So bye monsters, I know no one will miss me 'cause I was never a moralist nor politically correct but I had fun with some of you! Gaga was my true love. LaLuna 12,732
Not liking Gaga's new music is not the problem, and people have a right to express their opinion. Take Zachary for example, he's not here for MR, but he was very respectful, he didn't bash the song. But respect doesn't seem to be a concept that many people grasp on GGD. When people here have different opinions, they jump at each other's throats immediately. I mean, I don't particularly care for MR, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna be rude to those who do. I'm actually happy that people like the song. So at the end of the day, people shouldn't refrain from expressing their opinions, they should just do it in a respectful manner. And most of you will grow older and learn to appreciate musical styles that deviate from the club sounds you have come to identify yourselves with. Trust me. I've been there, too. But when it hits, you will realize that Lady Gaga was the one artist who was there with you through it all. suddenly i feel old

The point is, why are some people wasting their time on a forum for an artist you don't like at the moment. Maybe that's not for you to understand or worry about. I suspect there's not just one singular reason we're all staying around here to neatly answer your question -- rather we could probably give you a million reasons why we choose to stay but here's one: it's our time to 'waste' however we see fit and speaking for myself -- I happen like the artist -- I just don't love the art. Brian Ryan 1,468
Take the good with the bad. I don't like the monsters who only like things if the GP likes it. I'm not going to tell them to go. I also don't like how your thread will eventually be locked cause all the most interesting ones get locked. The music is healing. Just listen to the music. Be high like you finally free.... Like Bebe said, there are fans who have been around since the beginning and one album isn't going to change the feels they have for gaga, but they're certainly entitled to an opinion of the material she's putting out. Many have been explicitly saying they liked nothing from her since BTW (so about 5 years vs the 3 years of TF/M) though while at the same time stanning and whiteknighting for another artist and those members here I really do wonder why they are still here.
