She's destroyed what we decided Lady Gaga had to be, and has created a singer/songwriter on the road singing in tiny bars about love and loss. Joanne is performance art, but in a more subtle way. Her venue choices, her use of words in her speech, her style of dress. This was definitely performance art. She literally says "call me Joanne" everyday at least 5 times in different interviews or social media posts lol. It's anything but subtle. It makes me wanna cringe. I know that she is a good performer. And I know that she is decent at performance art but this time it just feels like bad acting. So corny smh And btw, WE did not decide who lady gaga was. She was very clear from the get go who she was and she created herself and her image. (my name is lady gaga and this is my haus teas)

It's anything but gone. Right? I literally only caught the performances individually, but that entrance! She hasn't lost that theatrical spark. She literally acted like she was some unsigned chick who got booked to play at some unknown bar and is walking around like "Oh, is this the venue? I'm a little lost, I got booked to play at some bar but i'm not sure if the only bar in sight that has fans barricaded around is the right one?" She is clearly playing a character haha. Living for it!

Can everybody just stop with "oh i miss stefani i'm so glad she's back, you don't know her bla bla" you don't know stefani you only know Gaga. I fell in love with Gaga and the singer on that budlight stage is NOT Gaga for me and it really pisses me off. This is a different musician making different music that i don't enjoy. If i wanted to hear country I wouldn't have stanned for gaga when just dance came out lol thats literally like saying "james cameron's avatar is nothing like titanic! the james cameron that made titanic is NOT the james cameron that made avatar because avatar is sooooo different! if i wanted to watch a sci fi movie like avatar, i wouldn't have been a fan of titanic!" like ???? Living for it! I'm honestly watching this Dive Bar show (just finished) with tears in my eyes at times! I am absolutely, 100% HERE FOR THIS. This performance reminded me why I love this woman so much in the first place. Just when you thought she had nothing left to "shock" us with, nothing left to push the envelope, she DELIVERED with the most stripped down, basic, acoustic performance of her life. In the most authentic place she could possibly deliver it --- Nashville!! With the cowriter of "Jesus Take the Wheel" on stage with her singing backup. WHERE DID THIS GAGA COME FROM!?!!? I have no idea, but I am absolutely, entirely, 100% HERE FOR IT!!! This is everything to me, Gagz!!!!!!

That's exactly what i'm saying. I would be a fan of titanic, I just wouldn't be a fan of the person who made titanic lol.According to your logic my sentence would be: "If i wanted to hear country influenced music, I wouldn't have been a fan of Born This Way". That doesn't make sense. What I am saying is "If i wanted to hear country influenced music, I wouldn't have been a fan of Lady Gaga. Adakam 2
Well a dive bar its not a place to bleed and do choreos and stuff, and we did get a costume variation. But overall i think you just didnt see it or didnt like it and thats why youre deniying it, but the "art performance" of tonight was this "call me joanne/accent/mic drop" rockstar attitude and persona that actually goes back to the 70s. ReidOne 12,427
I haven't had a chance to read thru the threads yet (I just finished watching), but are Gaga fans seriously hating on this??? SERIOUSLY? I mean, I get that it's a departure from what we are used to, but this was all we could ever HOPE for out of our girl as MUSIC fans! Forget about your preconceived ideas of her genre or aesthetic... She's first and foremost a MUSICIAN. And she put that at the forefront tonight. Like we have NEVER SEEN. I am so freaking proud of her!! (and THIRSTING to hear "Million Reasons" again and again on repeat)

I'm so into Sinner's Prayer and I can't handle her just rocking on that guitar as if she is this veteran country star It's all just SOOOOO F*CKING GOOOD!! Also, among all the meltdowns, I cant help but think of this:

It's not creative that's for sure. It is indeed powerful and shocking, because we haven't seen Gaga sang like that before.

Also, among all the meltdowns, I cant help but think of this: Sinner's Prayer is very much on repeat along with Million Reasons. She wanted the music to speak, and it is. Both of my fathers grew up listening to different kinds of music, one rock and pop of the 60's-90's, and the other to the country/rockn'roll of the eras where Niel Diamond, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and Elvis were ruling the scene with their heartbreaking and touching work. There is very much a persona to this performance, she literally asks the crowd to call her "Joanne" and they listen without question, because it is clear she is a different artistic entity in that moment. All of this, the music, the lyrics, the vocal qualities and nuances, this persona, is connecting me to Gaga in a way that I never imagined I could connect with her. She is larger than life, yet part of my heart in a new way now, and I couldn't be happier to relive the musical loves and lives of our fathers together through this album. Lord Temptation 11,209
So far there have been three distinct epochs of Lady Gaga. We have m 2008-3013 ("early Gaga": aestethics (performance and material art) and ethics of love in an identity-fluid environment (fame and freedom era, where performance is art) 2014-2015 "middle Gaga" aka "Ghost" Gaga or the Hollywood era. She pays homage to the stars of the past because to the world at that time she was being forgotten like a ghost, like a shooting star in reverse entropy 2016-now is "new Gaga": call it the "Roots era" or "Lady era" if you will. All about connecting with our roots, and the cycles of destiny/choice and witness/memory. Forget about what's behind you, it's all about what is in front of you right NOW. What do you think? RAMROD 109,528
No. Not all is lost. This is what she choose for new album, completed by new persona, that she want you to call as Joanne. Take it the way you take Yüyi, Candy Warhol and Jo Calderone. And the genres she chooses this time are too reflected that. This is where she is at in the moment. Who knows which direction she will go in the near future. But this is her now, she know the risks but she proceed anyway, cos she is an artist, she live for her arts regardless the feedback, now, the rest is your own choice, to follow her in this new journey, or step back and take a breather for the moment.
