Apprehensive about Joanne? Worried about the next era? Ready to jump ship? Afraid of the brand Lady Gaga flopping?

     I'm not lying, I'm just stunnin' with my love-glue-gunning

I think one way for people to enjoy Joanne better is to let go of the Gaga you know. She always said she wants to remind the world that we never know or expect what she wants to do. We can't read her poker face. Don't let your expectations make you myopic to the point that anything outside of that becomes immediately branded as bad.

      Just give in. Don't give up baby, open up your heart and your mind to me,

We've always been proud of Gaga reinventing herself and showing off her different talents and artistry. Why are so many people afraid of her new direction now? Gaga's music was a mixture of big, brave and bold when she debuted. She was a freak who went against the trends. She decided what was mainstream then. As Billboard put it, "In later years, pop music molded itself to sound like her." And now, Gaga is coming out of the left field, trying to go against the mainstream just like she tried before against (mainly) RnB. Clearly, Gaga now is still Gaga then, at least in daring. Let go of your fears about certain genres you don't like. Just give it a try. What you discover may surprise you.

While Gaga herself is trying to escape the box, many monsters keep putting her back in that very same box. Ironically, the woman who changes looks regularly is now receiving backlash from her fans with her new imagery and look this era. "Crop top and jeans? She's so basic!!", you would say. But within the context of Perfect Illusion, it makes so much sense not just because of the song's influences, but also because of the multi-layered meaning of the song, which includes how we perceive Gaga or how she perceives us in return. Did you really like her daring and constant evolution? Or merely the theatrics itself and nothing else beyond that? Yes, pop music will never be low brow, but that doesn't necessarily mean that she only needs/wants to do pop.

Cliche? Ironic? Hypocritical? Tired excuse? Perhaps. But like how that exact same line contradicts her trying to be a popstar but not making popular records, so are her monsters who want, or need her to succeed but also don't support her music by buying or even streaming. Just like how the antithesis of some fans who genuinely love the music also want the song to succeed so it will reach more ears. It's a bit weird how they really are connected to each other. A love for music that everyone loves is followed by the bling, and yet people who want the bling can't make an effort to believe in the music. I'll admit, to date, there's still a small part of me that wants her to dominate the world again, even though I know the chances of having a second imperial phase is slim. There's always a little bit of the other side in each of us, but in varying strengths. The question is, how do we act on that part?

Are you going to put her back in that box? Are you going to expect the bling from her regardless of the music? Are you going to love the music regardless of the bling?

I love her just as much now as I did 8 years ago. Just because she's in different "packaging" doesn't mean she isn't gaga anymore. At her core she's still the woman who took us in and loved us as if we were her own. She still the woman who has a massive set of lady balls and strives to push the envelope. People always laugh when I call her my hero but I just tell myself "they don't understand". She took me in and loved me unconditionally. She saw how battered and broken I was and she glued "me" back together and polished me until I shined. That's unconditional love right there

She literally said today that she still writes songs to be hits and that Joanne is pop. The monsters are only complaining about bad quality music, not that they want her to keep making Bad Romance rehashes.

Also, another point to make is that this album's going to be very vulnerable to Gaga. For her to make an album to showcase "who she was before she was famous" and to show herself whilst "erasing fame", it's really amazing.

She's always has gone against the trend, and it surprises me to see some people so up in arms about the direction she's going in with Joanne.
