what I always wanted to know is why some hate her for being "different" or unique, meanwhile they praise their faves for being "out of the box" or "fck the normal"

is it because she's a female?

Is this question for real? It's obvious. It's because she built her entire carreer on controversy and shock tactics. This made her a very polarizing figure and many people decided to write her off.

Most people don't watch her interviews like us fans do to see what a good person she is and what a caring personality she has, so they perceive her as something else.

Gaga is over every era. When will poor others? :diane:

Queen of being over since 2011

People were counting her as a one hit wonder back in 2009 so yeah, she's over since the beginning

Queen of being over before the beginning but still garnering acclaims and being invited to red carpets and stealing shows thereafter. :diane:

I could make the same thread for Katy. It would be more suitable on this site. :nails:

But who is really hating Gaga? She got A LOT of praise from critics and people these last years.

Just because some people don't like the song or album, it doesn't mean that they hate her.

nnnn when was your last activity? just an hour ago a thread about Katy is full of people anticipating her return as the savior of pop because Gaga "failed/flopped/is over/missed her chance" hence this thread being made as a response :emma:

Some old fans may forget this because they're blind by how high her chart positions were during that time, but she has always been OVER by some demographic, for different reasons. In the beginning people actually believed Gaga was a mediocre pop singer that used autotune to hide lack of talent and wore futuristic clothes to draw attention, all copy pasted from Grace Jones and Kylie Minogue. Fake and an ugly man, that was Gaga for some people in 2008-2009.

Then I remember people saying she was a one-trick-pony because Lovegame didn't do as well as Just Dance / Poker Face, Eh Eh was cute but "too basic", then Paparazzi struggled to took off even weeks after the video was out... even during her VMAs appearance she was the weird clown that supported the gays and months after ruined Imagine by John Lennon on that terrible cover.

Then Bad Romance came and it wasn't good at all, she was a downgraded female version of Marilyn Manson that even with all the "gimmicks" didn't manage to hit #1 anyways.

Telephone wasn't as good as Bad Romance for some, and she only released it because it was meant to do well because of the Beyonce feature, and then Alejandro came and Madonna and Ace of Base comparisons began, and that take us to 2011, the reductive era.

I'm just summarizing everything that happened during those years, but yeah, she hasn't had a break ever since 2008. Even since the start she always has been a very polarizing figure. She never was the type of artist that is generally supported and loved by the general public like Beyonce or Rihanna or even Katy Perry.

If you don't see any shadows, you're not in the light.

And bish is always in the light :emma:

She is hated because she's great. People expect things from her. She is a fixture in culture. She makes art that speaks. And when things make noise, they ruffle feathers. This is the reason why I love her. The bravery and boldness that she has when creating art is unmatched and that scares people. Let them hate her, the love she receives is much much more anyway. :queenga:

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I used to let what people say about her annoy me but I've stopped clicking on flame bait threads/articles that put her in a negative light now.

I'm ignoring the negative and just looking at the positive things people say about her. Gaga has LEGENDS that love and respect her, and she has worked with some of the said legends. I'm sure they and she could care less about what some 14 year old Stan Twitter account/person on a pop music forum says about her :classy:

Lady Palutena

Gaga has always been hated on, since the beginning. It doesn't seem that way but yes, people were calling her a "tranny" and saying she was a "one-hit wonder" and then she somehow became queen of the illuminati, then she was too gay and weird, followed by being over and out of ideas. Even in the Jazz era, she was being seen as doing damage control and pandering to the GP. It's like, she just cannot win, they either love her or they hate her.

As for her being different, well, that is the way things are, sadly. If you recall the infamous "looks like green hair and mechanical horses are the thing now" tweet, that can be taken as Gaga herself acknowledging the double-standard. Think of it as people saying "green hair and mechanical horses, ugh she's so try-hard and weird" but when Katy Perry, America's favorite does it, it is seen as cool and edgy.
