Bradley 59,173
So some of her singles don't do as well as Taylor Swift or Katy Perry's, and while I can greatly enjoy music without regard to their commercial performance, I understand the notion of 'it's good to celebrate when your favorite songs do well', so I was still secretly hoping Gaga could bounce back to being a widely known pop star ala Katy Perry. But now, I don't think it's that important anymore. We have tons of artists doing well on the charts like Selena Gomez, The Chainsmokers ,Calvin Harris or even Lukas Graham, Twenty One Pilots, I'm not saying they will remain in their current position forever, but obviously they're not on the same league as Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Adele, Rihanna and our fav, Lady Gaga. It really doesn't matter if Gaga is on the charts or radio or not. I have not even heard Formation, Sorry or Hold Up on the radio before but Lemonade is being hailed as one of the best albums of 2016. She's still grossing a whole lot of money from the Formation World Tour. She's still a global force and respected among artists who dwell in the music industry. She's recognised as someone who can actually perform AND sing and has deep artistic integrity, which is why she has been invited to perform at the Superbowl twice, won tons of Grammy awards, and generally recognised by the public as a pop sensation, and she doesn't even do well on Hot 100 or has a song that's garnered 2 billion views like Gangnam Style has. Guess who's similar to her? Lady Gaga. You've probably heard this before but let's take a look at Gaga's career right now: Recognised as a vocalist and powerhouse live singer: I mean she had won a Grammy with this 18-time Grammy winner, this man has a 'Tony Bennett day' dedicated to him. Despite being a jazz singer with almost no radio presence, Duets II and Cheek to Cheek managed to each sell over 1 million copies. I mean all the critics were surprised by Gaga's ability to sing jazz. What do these performances have in common? ACCLAIM. The reason she was invited to Superbowl to sing the national anthem is probably due to the whole jazz album and tour and THESE performances. Spoiler Dr. Luke Max Martin StarGate (who produced Rihanna's S&M, Only Girl, Diamonds, etc.) Calvin Harris What do the producers above have in common? Hit-makers. While I love pop music and am not denying their music occasionally sounds good, we all know what constitutes generic and trend-following and what constitutes authenticity. Status of Gaga associates: Nile Rodgers Sting Elton John Paul McCartney (as far as we know, Paul says he still intends to release their collaboration song, but pending studio work for the movie) Stevie Wonder I mean do these artists need a Hot 100 hit to be respected? Evident recognition as a contemporary legend: Just because you have a hit like Closer or Same Old Love doesn't get you the qualification to perform at the Superbowl or Oscars or pay tribute to legends: Take a look at the artists to whom Gaga had paid tribute: Frank Sinatra Sting David Bowie John Lennon Stevie Wonder Carole King If those aren't enough, your so-called Indie-Ga has been invited to perform: at the Superbowl for TWO FCKING YEARS IN A ROW. LADY GAGA THE ACTRESS: American Horror Story is one of the most popular cult-inviting shows on TV rn and Gaga managed to get an association with Ryan Murphy and his cast including Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates. I dk about you but being a friend of Ryan Murphy is a big deal to me. I love his shows and his crazy ideas and everyone in the TV industry knows who he is. While her role for the Countess was not nominated at the Emmys, it did garner a Golden Globe. I believe she will have bigger roles offered to her in the future. Ryan's ideas for TV is limitless and she could possibly start her 'Emmy career' from AHS, if not Ryan's new shows like American Crime Story, Feud (starring Jessica Lange), etc. Scream Queens was just another by-product of his. A Star Is Born and Bradley Cooper: What is Bradley famous for apart from his ultra-hot face and body? Oscars. This man is nominated for 4 Oscars consecutively and Gaga is under HIS guidance. Her movie career is just about to begin. While she stands a chance at getting nominated at the Oscars, since this film does sound like one that the Oscars would give attention to, if made properly, so what if she doesn't? She's the female lead alongside one of the most highest paid and recognised actors in the movie industry and this role would just open further gates to her movie career. What I'm trying to say is, if you think Gaga's career is over, or is deteriorating, talk again in 5 years.

zakariah 11,722
We're stanning for a legend in a making honestly, Gaga has already had a handful of hits from FOUR DIFFERENT ALBUMS. She's already had enough to make a greatest hits album, & if there's more to come this era, then good! But it definitely shouldn't be the main focus this era at all. Honestly, there's nobody else out there that can do what Gaga is doing right now. Gaga has a great amount of ability. She's even a good cook! I don't understand why ya'll still focus on the charts, they're just numbers, if we didn't have charts, I wonder if ya'll would even be stanning her right now. Also, this is why stans/other artists are very threatened by Gaga, because she has the ability to stay relevant in the industry without making pop music all the time. While others have no choice but to do that in order to stay relevant. Some even failed to do so (Iggy Azalea, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke, Sam Smith & Meghan Trainor) All these artists had #1 hits in the past 3-4 years, where are some of them now? Bradley 59,173
Tony Bennett didn't need huge singles to sell Duets II, a platinum-certified album. Beyonce doesn't need huge hits to sell Lemonade. I think Joanne will follow the footstep of these albums. Some albums sell a lot despite not generating huge hit-singles. Not to mention Perfect Illusion is not doing that bad, just not as good as Bad Romance or Born This Way did.

KinneyUnderYou 0
@Bradley Cooper This is my favorite thread since a long time. Everything was on point. I love this so much. If this does not get the recognition it deserves in the Trending Today, then I will loose my ****. I read this all, I'll read it again, and again. This is amazing, I love you
aaronyoji 2,054
her tributes are some of her best performances ever. no one really understands the dynamics she put into the frank sinatra tribute, and how hard those vocals are. she rounded her voice, wore a suit, pinned her hair back, swayed around in a sinatra-esque charm. it was theatrical without having to have someone throw up on you or create some glitter way nonsense. (not that i don't enjoy the vomit) or her sting tribute. that improvisation she did on the piano, how in tune her voice was in her falsetto, it was just...beyond. and not to forget her brilliant carole king tribute, where she just jumps head on into hitting an E note multiple multiple times, and reimagines a classic into a ballad without taking away from the song, looking like a young penny marshal. i really hope joanne hints at tapestry in some of its sound.
