The suspected shooter, a teenager, is in custody, spokesman Taylor Jones said. (6:00 update + personal update) A 14-year-old boy is in custody in connection with the shooting, deputies said. Anderson County Deputy Chief Keith Smith said the shooting happened on the playground and the shooter never got inside the school. A volunteer firefighter who responded to the school after the shooting was reported took down the suspect, Smith said. At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Garland Major said the teen, who was armed with a handgun, was taken into custody without incident. He said the shooting had no racial or terrorist undertones. Major confirmed that one male student was shot in the foot, the another in the leg and a female teacher in the shoulder. He said the teen was armed with a handgun. The second boy and the teacher were taken by ambulance to AnMed. They were treated and released, Ross Norton with AnMed said. I can't believe that something like this happened in my own backyard that is 20 mins away. Also, I hope that it was okay that I posted this since the rest of the U.S. is following this story. I feel horrible for this but it was like 5 consecutive posts with the same sentence structure and then i read this and burst out laughing. I feel so guilty now. Children are dying for no reason.
