Did Judas flop?

It was a single for around 21 days, interscope saw how TEOG sold and jumped the gun to switch singles...there wasn't enough time to really scale on the charts. Same happened for DWUW

I remember everyone made fun of this one saying that Gaga copies herself (Bad Romance). Which was true in part, also it was her first single to plummet in charts as I remember.

It's too bad that many did not understand the message.  Instead, it seemed to have been received quite literally, which created the controversy.  It is a beautiful song in describing a toxic romantic relationship (or other, general negatives in life) through the lens of religious icons.

That's bc the streaming ****. I think it hit 1 million copies sold in the US a few months ago.

I think it was on the edge of 1 million? Like 985k was the last BB update

I've seen people say Judas did well yet others saying it's a flop. What is the overall opinion?

Is my signature wrong? Should I add Judas?

(PI might be added on there soon)

Christians hate that song, I have a gay friend who happens to be a Catholic, and he was a devoted Gaga fan...till Judas. During the release of Judas, he commented and criticised Gaga and Judas on social media almost everyday, and quit as a fan. After that, he's been posting "How fun and sweet Katy Perry compare to Gaga", kind of post. He became a Perry fan since then.

#religious person sucks, sometimes

Well, back then, gaga's chart records were flawless and Judas was her lowest peak song back then. Plus, the leak didn't help, coz it caused an early release, and of course the backlash with the religious groups.

Judas was a really bad decision all around as the 2nd single off of Gaga's official "sophomore album" since TFM is an EP.

First, Judas sounds a LOT like Bad Romance (the chord progression is basically identical on both choruses where she also uses the same minor to major same chord gimmick to add an element of drama).

Second, the imagery and overall theme of the MV were nothing new in pop music and nothing new for her career. In Alejandro MV she had already tackled some of her issues with Christianity less than a year before releasing Judas. It felt a bit repetitive and too shocking when she should be toning down the outrageous stuff.

Marry The Night, TEOG or Scheiße - any one of those - would've been an amazing 2nd single that wouldn't turn the GP off and wouldn't fail on the charts.

They ATE it up.

"Oh, I loved her Judas!" "It's so cool!"
