iCpro 14,846
I think it's talking about how they protected the other patient, i.e. not giving them the knife, but no one was looking out for Gaga, as in they gave her the knife and she hurt herself. To put it another way, the gummy bears are a metaphor for the people who look after her, and her safety, and the knife is a metaphor for the people that harm her and things that put her at a risk. Honestly I could write a full essay about the MTN video and the ideas contained in it 08, 09, 11, 13, 16,
crisTEAne 21,059
she said that she used to send bags of gummy bears and sweets to the employees of her (first?) record label. i think the line refers to the dark side of the music industry—the knife that cut her wings off, hence the scar on her back. then, at the end of the video, she is signed to a new label, which frames the whole narrative. also, there is a quote from her that includes the line "you have to knife-fight your way" to your dreams. if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back

JustAnotherDay 8,402
I always thought the line referred to her wishing she hadn't had the "surgery" that she was in the hospital for, since "going under the knife" is a metaphor for surgery, idk I could be wrong though. The surgery of course represents her rape which is what the scene was hinting at. was NickARTPOP

Vergil 2,296
I think gummy bears mean to be the innocence or blindness, the sugar of starting to be a pop star and famous by having a label when she was stefani. The knife means she has to see the reality that she got fired and she needs the knife to face it. That's the way I see it.
